Do you have a question about this home or the local area?

Oolong has several elements that keep it interesting and cosy, despite the simple design. We particularly liked the collection of antique teapots, an unexpected addition that brought a bit of character to proceedings. Unfortunately there was a storm when we visited, so we couldn’t see the garden in its best state, but it was still a cute area, and a bit of sun would do wonders. San Saba isn’t the most central area – it’s a bit of a trek to the Spanish Steps, for example – but there’s good transport in, and the neighbourhood itself has plenty going for it and few tourists.

Home truths

Even though there's space for six people, there's only one bathroom so we reckon four is enough

The mezzanine doesn't have a handrail, and is only reachable via a ladder

When we visited, there was some cosmetic damage to the door of the second bedroom. It's being fixed up but something to know about in the meantime

About San Saba

Bordering Testaccio to the west, San Saba is a similarly working-class neighbourhood. You won’t find the grand buildings of Prati here, but you will experience a side of Rome detached from the tourist crowds and like its more famous neighbour, there is plenty to attract the more culinary-minded guest. You aren’t missing out on history either, as San Saba is one of the original Seven Hills and boasts the enormous...

Host

This home is managed by Francesca

This home is managed directly by its owner who will be your point of contact before and during your stay. Giovanni is a journalist who, until recently, worked in political press offices and PR.
