Do you have a question about this home or the local area?

The location of this apartment is second to none. A handful of traditional restaurants are on your doorstep, and the vibrant neighbourhood of La Latina is just a five-minute walk away. As the sunny rooftop terrace overlooks Plaza Mayor Square, you'll no doubt hear the main throng of the city below. It's a wonderful place to entertain, though, and the modestly-sized kitchen – with its own breathtaking views over Madrid's skyline – is a particularly special feature. Plus, the inclusion of the Japanese staircases spreads the bedrooms over two floors – ingenious use of space.

Home truths

Access to this apartment is by stairs only – be prepared for some of lugging of suitcases up to the fourth floor

Light-sensitive sleepers beware – the master bedroom's window in the loft does not have blackout blinds or curtains

Owing to the position of the master bedroom in the loft, the dining room ceiling is just shy of two metres – tall people will need to mind their heads

Without a rail to hold onto, going up and down the Japenese stairs could be a challenge for some

Without a dishwasher or an oven, this place is not ideal for large elaborate dinner parties

About Puerta del Sol

Puerta del Sol is the epicentre of the city and home to Madrid’s most famous meeting point – ‘Oso y El Madroño’, the bear with the strawberry tree. The central square of this neighbourhood is quite literally where all the roads in the Iberian peninsula lead to, which means it’s really hard to get lost if this is where you want to go. This area is popular both day and night, with buskers, natives, and tourists snapping photos of some of Madrid’s most iconic sights.
