Found along a street of handsome townhouses that's quintessentially West London, this apartment has plenty riding in its favour. The high ceilings and bay windows that stretch almost the full length of the wall mean that the interior is blessed with copious amounts of natural light and this dances off the wooden floorboards, glass dining table and transparent chairs. The walls painted in muted grey are livened up by some pieces of modern artwork and eye-catching light fixtures, while the cream kitchen at the far end of the space is plenty big enough for cooking up a storm. However, you might well just find that this kitchen remains unused during your stay — this corner of the UK's capital is full of high-end restaurants, including a few with a Michelin star to their name. The V&A Museum only takes twenty-five minutes to reach on foot when you fancy catching an exhibition, too.

Home truths

Some traffic noise can be heard in the bedrooms and living area — light sleepers may want to keep the windows closed

At full capacity, the fifth and sixth guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room

The master bedroom en-suite is fitted with a sink and shower, but no toilet

The apartment's found on the first floor of a building with no lift and guests must climb twenty steps before reaching the front door, so it might not be suitable for those with reduced mobility

The building has no private parking space, but West Brompton station is only eight minutes' walk away
