Do you have a question about this home or the local area?

Decked out in brilliant shades of turquoise, this home is anything but shy. It's sleek and modern, especially the kitchen and shiny bathroom, which has a luxe rainfall shower that's a dream after a busy day. The kitchen is a bit smaller than we'd like – for instance, it doesn't have an oven – but it's still suitable for whipping up quick breakfasts and light snacks. And while there's no sofa, both the sitting area and the bedroom have flat-screen TVs with Netflix. But we loved the unique layout the most. It should be a studio, but clever partition-glass walls create a separate bedroom without compromising any natural light. When you're ready to explore, you couldn't ask for a better spot to be. From here, you can quickly walk to São João Theatre and Majestic Café, but the rest of the central sights aren't too far either. Browse the shelves of the world-famous Livraria Lello bookstore (fifteen minutes on foot), visit the stalls in Mercado do Bolhão (an eight-minute stroll) or try Porto's signature sandwich, the francesinha. Your hosts can help you book tables at the best restaurants, wine-tasting tours and more – so whatever you're in the mood to do, don't be afraid to ask.

Home truths

Four guests can stay in this flat – two will be on the murphy bed in the living room – but we think it'd be a squeeze

This home is in a former office building with a few commercial spaces downstairs – it's suited for those seeking an urban base

We spotted signs of wear and tear in this home, but nothing major

This home doesn't have a manual, but the host is working on putting one together

There's private parking in the building, but we don't think a car is needed here

There's no washing machine here, but there are two laundromats just a short walk away

You can hear noise from the surrounding area in the apartment

About Batalha

Directly south of Bolhão and its famous market, Batalha is an inner-city area that borders on the historic centres of Baixa and Ribeira. Like a lot of Porto’s centre, it was relatively run-down until around fifteen years ago, but has since undergone a cultural revival. There’s a wide range of nearby restaurants to try out, and some famous music and theatre venues. Some parts have a calmer, more residential vibe,...
