Say the name Ramsgate and it doesn't exactly conjure up images of art, elegance and design, but we're happy to let this charming Georgian home prove us wrong. Set in a beautifully restored Georgian townhouse, this home makes the most of its original features, including exposed wooden floors and an ornate fireplace. But cool, contemporary and quirky are the buzz words here. The floors are painted a glossy black. The monochrome L-shaped sofa is more Austen Powers than Jane Austen. Modern artwork makes a bold statement on the walls, and an abundance of houseplants add warmth and character in every room (check out the botanical scene in the bathroom). Well, little wonder – host Kate is an interior designer. The light-filled kitchen with sensational marble counter-tops and high-spec cooking equipment is the heart of the home – putting together dinner here will be a delight, not a chore. And even better? This home is in a superb central location, set in-between Ramsgate's train station and the beach.
