It’s not often you get the chance to stay in a building from the 1500s, and it’s even rarer to get to stay in such an old building in a setting like the Amalfi coast. Raffone is exactly what you imagine when you think of the region below Sorrento – infinity pools, roof terraces, olive trees, dramatic hillsides cascading into the sea. There’s even a pizza oven (though if that’s a bit daunting, your host can arrange for a chef to come and cook for you). The nearest town is Conca Dei Marini – a picture-perfect fishing village with local shops and a quiet beach – and the slightly larger Amalfi is only twenty minutes away. And of course, both Pompeii and Naples are easily reachable for day trips (if you can tear yourself away from the home itself).
