This boxy villa is strangely at home in its rural setting, furnished in simple, neutral tones and full of natural light. The open-plan living space and each of the three bedrooms have patio doors out to the poolside terrace, where you can follow the sun all day long. Enjoy floating in the pretty pool or relax in the hot tub – there’s even a shallow pool ideal for the wee ones to splash about in. Indoors there’s a well equipped kitchen, and a built-in barbecue outdoors for grilling up a Mediterranean feast to serve alfresco as you admire the olive trees and old-fashioned farming country. Just a few minutes drive away you’ll find the little village of Prines, with its local bars and tavernas. Ten minutes in the car and you’ll be in the historic town of Rethymno, with winding streets and the fortezza to explore, as well as glorious sandy beaches and a picturesque harbour.
