Cosy, charming and contemporary, this home in the north of Exmoor National Park is the perfect rural escape. Think long walks down country lanes, pub lunches and barbecues when the weather’s right. Brimming with charm and character, the sash windows, original lantoom stone walls and vaulted ceilings show off its farmhouse heritage. A wood-burning stove and underfloor heating keep chilly toes at bay, while the large eat-in kitchen has everything you need to whip up delicious homecooked meals. But the view is the real star of the show. Steep valley edges plunge down on either side to the babbling East Lyn River just steps from your front door. Who knew Devon could look as dramatic as the Swiss Alps? Each morning, grab a coffee, pull up a chair and listen to birdsong and the trickle of the water as it flows to the sea. Don your walking boots and ramble along the riverside into Lynmouth, a gorgeous village filled with shops, pubs and tearooms just ten minutes from your home. And, if you fancy swapping green pastures for shingled beaches, another five minutes and you’re at the dramatic Exmoor coastline – Blacklands Beach and The Valley Of Rocks are both worth a visit.
