This stunning 14th Century green-shuttered villa is located in the thermal town of Casciana Terme, nestled amongst the vineyards and century-old olive groves. Old-world decadence radiates from every fitting in this grand home – from frescoed bedrooms with glinting chandeliers, to gilded mirrors over the grand pianos. The entrance hall alone, with its vaulted ceiling, arched stone doorways, and monk seat is like stepping back into the 16th century. Harth-like fireplaces adorn the myriad sitting rooms spread across the villa, and you can choose to unwind in a light-filled loft room, the grand main lounge with French windows, or the billiard room. The kitchen with its range-style gas cooker amidst an antique breakfasting table and dresser retains that Italian country cooking feel, and you can even hire a private chef to make the most of the region’s bountiful produce. Perhaps serve outside, at the table set in the shade of the pergola with its billowing white curtains. Make sure to pack your swimsuits, for the luxurious pool on the grounds, and for the thermal spa less than ten minutes away on foot. Of course, if you can pry yourself away from this beautiful home, the wilds of Tuscany can be found right from your front door, so grab your most comfortable walking shoe and head on out exploring. The iconic city of Pisa is also a scenic thirty-minute drive from home, and it is the perfect place to truly capture the Tuscan way of life.
