Set within the garden of The Old Post Office in Middleton, this compact cottage oozes charm that captivates you from the moment you walk through the door. Every care has been taken to restore the place and add modern conveniences without taking away from its period character. The tiled floors, the rustic dining table and the vintage decorations transport you to an England of the early 20th century. We fell in love with the exposed red-brick fireplace in the middle of the open-plan living area – the perfect spot for reading a book or sipping tea when it’s rainy outside. You can whip up a quick breakfast in the kitchen and sip your coffee in the small furnished patio before taking off for the day. The endless beaches of Dunwich Heath are less than a 10-minute drive – you can enjoy hiking, bird watching or simply lazing on the sand. You’re also less than a 30-minute drive from the Suffolk Heritage Coast and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty where farmland, forest and marshes form stunning landscapes. Upon your return, if you feel too tired to cook, grab a table at the pub across the road, and enjoy a pint and dinner with the locals.
