It’s not hard to see why so many flock to England’s Lake District. Think traditional tea rooms, country pubs, Beatrix Potter attractions, and the mesmerising Lake Windermere. An eight-minute drive from its grand shores, this cosy Cumbrian bolthole offers you a warm welcome home after a long day of watersports, mountain biking, or cruising on the water. The charming stone building was a former barn, lovingly renovated with a modern twist. Upon arrival, you’ll pass through the lush greens of the shared garden. Then you can kick off your walking boots and make a beeline for the walk-in power shower. After you’ve freshened up, head down the carpeted stairs to explore the vast living space. First of all, sink into the plush sofa in the lounge with a cup of Earl Grey. The decor around you is homely yet sophisticated – a country kitchen with stylish grey cabinets and shiny appliances, and a huge home-cinema-style media wall (handcrafted, of course). As the evening draws to a close, retire to your top-floor suite to stargaze under the skylight before drifting off to sleep – no doubt dreaming of the breathtaking scenery outside your door.

About The Lake District
Poets and novelists have often escaped to the Lake District for a spot of inspiration. Famously, Wordsworth pondered about daffodils and clouds during his time here. The undulating hills are tracked with drystone walls while sheep graze, and farmsteads enjoy untouched beauty for miles around. England’s biggest lake, Windermere, cuts through a valley, sleek as glass and hosts a litany of cosy-pub-filled towns and water sports venues along its shores....
