For measuring purposes, a statue of King Charles I close to Charing Cross is used as the official centre of London. To give you an idea of just how well-placed this duplex apartment is, you can reach this regal landmark in just six minutes on foot. However, even with this superb position, we can't see any compromises made with the home itself. The roomy interior is a handsome mix of dark wooden floors, cleansingly white walls and house plants, while the large skylight in the master bedroom makes the space feel refreshingly bright. Back downstairs, there's a small patio area out through the French doors ― which is rare for homes in the UK's capital, let alone one right in the heart of it ― and it's a lovely spot to enjoy some peace and quiet for a moment, too. Don't sit out here too long, however, as there's so much to do on your doorstep. There are artistic masterpieces to be appreciated at the National Gallery only two minutes' walk away, while Chinatown is five minutes' walk in the opposite direction for when you've worked up a hunger.

Home truths

There's no private parking space, but there's a paid car park in Chinatown five minutes' walk away

The home's on the first floor of a building with no lift and there are two levels in the flat itself, so it might not be suitable for guests with reduced mobility

The apartment is located just off Leicester Square, so it will be busy at times outside the front door

The courtyard is shared with one other home

About The West End

The West End is about as central as it gets, hundreds of restaurants and bars on your doorstep and you might even see the lights of Shaftesbury Avenue (London's Broadway) blinking through your curtains. It's certainly conveniently located for flopping into bed after seeing a show, but be warned you will be sharing the area with quite a lot of tourists and you won't find many proper Londoners or signs...
