Windermere is not only the largest natural lake in the glorious Lake District, but in the whole of England. And in such grand surroundings, you need an even grander home to match. This luxury house sits on the eastern edge of the water, just a fifteen-minute drive from the quaint town of Ambleside. Set over three spectacular floors, the traditional stone exterior makes way for unexpected decor. From the minimalist, designer kitchen, to the apex windows of the modern lounge, to the rustic oak panels of a formal dining room, the interiors simply exude opulence and style. And with a magazine-ready, self-contained, entire-floor suite with a private balcony, you may have to draw straws on rooms. Outside, recline on the furniture in your two-acre grounds, among lush green lawns and wildflowers. Light up the barbecue for an alfresco dinner, accompanied by a bottle of fine English sparkling wine. The enormity of the great lake will become clear as you gaze out from home, but you don’t have to trek all the way around. Take a four-minute drive to the Bowness to Far Sawrey ferry, where you can cross over to the west side to explore its delights from every angle.

About The Lake District
Poets and novelists have often escaped to the Lake District for a spot of inspiration. Famously, Wordsworth pondered about daffodils and clouds during his time here. The undulating hills are tracked with drystone walls while sheep graze, and farmsteads enjoy untouched beauty for miles around. England’s biggest lake, Windermere, cuts through a valley, sleek as glass and hosts a litany of cosy-pub-filled towns and water sports venues along its shores....
