In the desert landscapes of Southern California, pockets of urban life spring up in sandy scenes. Joshua Tree and Yucca Valley are two of these towns, just north of the incredible hiking spots deep in Joshua Tree National Park. With independent boutiques, colourful bars, and quirky galleries, not everything here is for outdoorsy types. But if you want the best of both, this striking home, a fifteen-minute drive from the centre of Joshua Tree, is a perfect base. The vision of this mid-century masterpiece was brought to life by the lead designers of London’s Soho House. Chic and unique, this architectural delight feels otherworldly, surrounded by dunes, desert foliage, and native cacti. We love the elegant interiors – beamed ceilings sit above the conversation pit by a wood-burning fireplace, and concrete floors exude stylish, urban minimalism. Pristine white decor features throughout this 60s-inspired home, collaborating with the natural world through a rustic, wooden dining table, woven rugs, and faux fur throws on the chairs. And for a true taste of nature, step outside to your private, desert-side decking for margaritas, followed by a barbecue and a night in the hot tub under star-filled skies.
