In this quiet corner of Crete, archaeological sites dot the landscape between secluded sandy coves and beachy resort villages. Up on a hilltop by Kokkino Chorio village, you’ve got panoramic sea views from the terraces and patios of this luxe villa. It’s a ten-minute stroll to the local supermarket to stock up and there are a couple of tavernas in the village centre for long, leisurely lunches. You’re also a forty-minute drive from the buzzing hub of Chania. The outside space was designed for full days of enjoying the sunshine, moving between the shaded lounge beneath the pergola, to the open-air kitchen and dining area and whiling away the afternoon on a poolside lounger. Each area has an uninterrupted view of the sparkling ocean and it’s particularly romantic when illuminated by lantern light after sunset. Head inside where the honey-brown stone is on display in the open living area alongside a vaulted wooden ceiling. Striking candelabra lighting features wouldn’t look out of place in a modern cathedral and each room has an ode to a figure of Greek mythology in deep blue on the wall.
