While many of us flock here for these very reasons, The Hamptons aren’t all just about luxury beach lifestyles and golf resorts. The Long Island Peninsula has a whole lot to offer – inland as well as on the coast. A seven-minute drive south of the bustling coastal town of Sag Harbor, and ten minutes north of East Hampton Main Beach, this home is a haven for peace, seclusion, and greenery. We love the setting of this modern cottage, with towering, native trees around the perimeter and a lush lawn. A string of fairy lights on the back porch makes this scene particularly magical at night, bringing a fairytale forest vibe to your private garden (which can only be made better with a few margaritas). To cure your hangover, start the next day with a dip in your heated, saltwater pool. Swim a few lengths, then head into the vast living space for a fresh pot of coffee on Eames-style chairs at the dining table. As you ponder over your plans for the day ahead, you can get cosy by the fire and sink into the sofa – do you really need to hit the beach, or do you have everything you need right here?

If you've seen a TV show set in New York, you’ve most likely heard of the Hamptons. This stretch of coast is the summer retreat par excellence – each little town, village or hamlet has its...
