Turkey is a country steeped in history and when visiting Beyoğlu – a district on the European side of Istanbul – you can rely on running into some of that history somewhere along the way. Whether going to see Saint Antuan Church, built for the Italian community, or visiting the Parisian-style neighbourhoods of Cihangir and Çukurcuma, you’ll see European influences across the city. One of our favourite spots has to be the flower passage, or Çiçek Pasajı, where impoverished Russian noblewomen sold flowers after the Russian revolutions. The historic passage is now home to shops and cafes and whilst sitting down for coffee and a light bite, you might even be moved to snap a few photos of the ornate architecture on offer. Inside, the home is far more modern with pops of orange and blue. Sink into the sofa after a long day of exploring and enjoy a helping of Turkish delights alongside your coffee. The balcony is a must for breakfast when you’re not dining out and lunches of doner kebabs or meze platters will be best enjoyed at the striking kitchen island. Beautiful, quirky, and very well connected, this home can be a base for explorers or a haven for those looking for a bit of R&R.
