Beachwood Serai, Plum Guide home in Los Angeles

Click to book Beachwood Serai now: from £264 per night This is a modern house but one with a distinctly classic Hollywood style - tucked away in the oasis of the hills of Beachwood Canyon. The home mixes contemporary comforts with a collection of antiques, art and vintage treasures that makes the living space and cute-as-a-button bedrooms feel cosy yet grand at the same time. Stepping in to look around, you'll notice the high vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and stone-hearth fireplace that exudes heaps of rustic charm, while the grand piano takes you back to the bygone Golden Age of Hollywood. Wandering through the living room, you'll feel like you're walking along the walls of a castle with the iron chandelier and long dark wood dining table fit for a king or queen. Speaking of, the views from just about every room look out onto the dramatic rolling hills, with one of the bedrooms overlooking a genuine Hollywood-style castle – complete with a drawbridge and moat. Outside, stretch out on your sun-soaked wraparound balcony and enjoy breakfast on the elegant outdoor dining area surrounded by tall trees and lush greenery. Beyond this characterful home, you'll find scenic Griffith Park a ten-minute drive away, that's perfect for morning runs or longer afternoon hikes. And if you're looking for the glitz and glam of tinsel town, then take the nine-minute drive to the star-studded Hollywood Boulevard and its prestigious Walk of Fame. Charlie Was Here

Charlie Was Here, Plum Guide home in Los Angeles

Click to book Charlie Was Here now: from £168 per night Part of a complex once owned by Charlie Chaplin, this home is a combination of rustic, Spanish style and modern Boho chic. In a prime location, it's tucked away on the border between Hollywood and West Hollywood and we bet it could tell some stories about the golden age of cinema. Recently updated, plenty of period features have been left intact, while all the mod cons have also been added. Painted all white and with wooden floors, you'll find some of the arched doors and windows this era home is known for, along with stylish furnishings and quirky decorative pieces. The kitchen and bathroom are of an older style but have plenty of character, and we particularly love the feature wallpaper in the master bedroom. Our favourite thing about this home is the private garden – a tranquil oasis where you can sit outside, surrounded by tropical planting. Just a five-minute drive from Hollywood, whether you're here for work or leisure, it's a great LA location just off Santa Monica Boulevard. Sleeps up to 4 | 2 Bedrooms | 1 Bathroom

The Glass Box

The Glass Box, Plum Guide home in Los Angeles, USA

Click to book The Glass Box now: from £888 per night There are no two ways about it, this home in the Hills is an absolute showstopper – it's at the very top of the A-list alongside the likes of Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep. So it's no surprise that a few of Hollywood's biggest names have actually stayed here. It's an architectural masterpiece that's all retractable glass and teak walls and bamboo flooring encapsulating zen-like serenity in the midst of bustling Laurel Canyon. And with beds as luscious as these, you'll never want to leave. If you can tear yourself away, you can follow in the handprints of the stars at the Walk of Fame, an eight-minute drive away, while you're just nine minutes from the vibrant nightlife of the Sunset Strip. If you'd like to stretch your legs, then an early morning hike to the Hollywood sign is around two hours one way, so we'd probably grab a Lyft back. Otherwise, Runyon Canyon is a more manageable two-hour round trip. Sleeps up to 6 | 3 Bedrooms | 2 Bathrooms
