Linger Awhile

Linger Awhile, Plum Guide home in Sussex, UK

Click to book Linger Awhile now: from £200 per night Located right in the heart of Arundel, this Victorian townhouse has stunning views over the castle and Gothic cathedral. Originally designed and built by Joseph Hansom (architect behind Arundel Cathedral), it’s been renovated to a high standard and tastefully decorated. Modern gadgets like a flatscreen smart TV and slick wine fridge are seamlessly incorporated into the decor alongside original fireplaces, windows and chandelier-hung ceiling roses. We loved the mix of furniture, with individual pieces specially selected to fit each room, as well as the charming courtyard garden. Overall, we felt the home was warm, inviting, comfortable and very clean. Arundel is quaint and traditional with decent shops, art galleries, pubs and coffee shops (we can recommend the brunch at Motte and Bailey). Close to the river Avon and good walks in the nearby South Downs, the town is also just a few minutes’ drive to great spots on the South Coast – less than 20 to Worthing; 40 into Brighton. This is a lovely option for a family looking to linger for a while and enjoy a slower pace of life, within easy driving distance of the seaside. Sleeps up to 8 | 4 Bedrooms | 3 Bathrooms

Flow Theory

Flow Theory, Plum Guide home in West Sussex

Click to book Flow Theory now: from £489 per night Flow Theory is the kind of place we'd recommend for a longer stay, just because we feel that a one-week booking will barely let you scrape the surface of all it has to offer. The insides are designed for a large family to play, relax, and adventure together, especially since the house is well equipped with cooking supplies, DVDs, and games. But we'd be silly not to mention the mudflats outside, which offer a unique opportunity for wildlife fanatics and birdwatchers to get their wellies on and reconnect with nature. We loved how the whole house is designed with the awareness of the natural beauty just outside, and every room has a stunning view that keeps inviting you to go outdoors. When you're ready to explore the nearby towns, we recommend that you start with Chichester's cathedrals, then take a twenty-minute drive to West Wittering beach for a day trip. If there are Peppa Pig fans in your party, then a visit to Peppa Pig World at Paulton's Park is also a must. Sleeps up to 9 | 5 Bedrooms | 3 Bathrooms

Millstone

Millstone, Plum Guide home in West Sussex, UK

Click to book Millstone now: from £399 per night A gorgeous period cottage on the banks of the millstream, Millstone puts you in the heart of a picturesque English coastal village. It’s incredibly quiet, with barely any sound other than the burbling of the stream and the quacking of ducks. And as it’s a smartly converted community hall dating back to the 19th century, it combines the charm of yesterday with the comforts of today. Walk to the end of the lane and you’re at the water’s edge where you’ll find gorgeous views of the estuary and the sunsets over the waterfront quay. For biking, walking and nature enthusiasts, the South Downs National Park is a fifteen-minute drive and the Wittering Beaches aren’t much further. And if you’re looking for a little more action, the market town of Chichester is only 10 minutes by car. Sleeps up to 4 | 2 Bedrooms | 3 Bathrooms

Click to book Tide and Time now: from £550 per night Step into this coastal home in East Preston and feel the outside world disappear. Enter through the charming front door and find a bright living space with light driftwood floorboards, walls and furnishings, plus bi-folding doors that bathe the open concept interior in natural Sussex sunshine. This rustic space is a nod to the sea, with a plethora of nautical touches, porthole mirrors, and even a blackboard with high and low tide timings. You’ll breeze from outdoor to indoor, kicking back in the chill-out room with a good book or a game of table football, enjoying your morning coffee on the patio, or drifting off in the hammock. When you’re not relaxing in the garden, stroll down to the idyllic pebble beach, just a 5-minute walk from the home. After a day of seaside fun, retreat to a warm and cosy living room, snuggle up round the wood burning stove in the colder evenings and unwind with family or friends amid the soothing surroundings. Sleeps up to 8 | 4 Bedrooms | 3 Bathrooms

Vanity Flair

Vanity Flair, Plum Guide home in East Sussex, UK

Click to book Vanity Flair now: from £750 per night The elegance of this five-storey townhouse along Brighton’s fashionable Portland Place evokes the glamour of the Regency era. It’s been immaculately restored, and the giant sash windows, wrought-iron balconies, soaring ceilings and marble fireplaces feel rightfully opulent. Yet this 200-year-old home is also a place of 21st-century tech. In the basement you’ll find a home cinema with 2.5-metre screen and Dolby Digital surround sound for brilliant nights in. Add to this the plush velvet sofas, cloud-like beds, roll-top baths and a sparkling kitchen finished in white marble (one of two kitchens in fact), and this home feels extremely indulgent. Families and friends will love it here, and since all beds are split kings, the sleeping arrangements are flexible. Located in fashionable Kemp Village, a pebble’s throw from Brighton Beach, the home is also excellently placed for eating out, drinking and exploring. In just 15 minutes you could be licking ice creams on Brighton’s pier or admiring more Regency architecture in town. Sleeps up to 16 | 5 Bedrooms | 3 Bathrooms
