It's a premium location in the unique public floating garden, just a ten-minute trip down the canal to Little Venice – take your very own rowboat down to the exclusive oasis. Back on land, go for a spin on the free-to-use bicycles, exploring nearby Edgware road and leafy green Hyde Park – under a seven-minute cycle away. When you do return to your luxurious barge, you'll find sleek Scandi interiors with warm reclaimed timber walls. Compact but better equipped than many homes, this houseboat provides the ultimate boutique hotel experience – from the swanky freestanding bathtub to the chic breakfast bar. There are plenty of entertainment options too. Snuggle up with a movie in the cosy (inside) living space – complete with a cleverly positioned projector. It's the perfect setting for a romantic getaway in the city, with the spectacular rooftop dining area also ideal for entertaining friends and celebrating a special occasion. We absolutely loved it. Click to book Duckdown Lodge now: from £366 per night In an elegant pocket of the Cotswolds lies this lakeside charming villa – a real find for those who like their homes with a generous helping of natural daylight. The floor-to-ceiling windows cover three levels, so even when you're not out on one of the many terraces dining alfresco or enjoying a glass of wine with the lake as your backdrop, you'll feel like you're under the sun. Families will love it here, with bunk beds and a playroom keeping younger guests busy. The home's location in the Lower Mill Estate means you'll have access to two shared heated swimming pools, playgrounds, soft play, tennis courts, a 3G multi-use games area, and a spa (we recommend booking treatments in advance). Further afield, nearby Cirencester is dotted with historic pubs and charming country boutiques and is just twenty minutes by car. Click to book Wildflower Meadows now: from £1400 per night If you're planning a family getaway in Devon, look no further than these two traditional 17th-century brick-built barns. Tucked away at the edge of an expansive farm estate, the two glorious cottages and barn conversion have been lovingly restored and furnished with a contemporary flourish. Gather your ensemble for a feast in the grand mid-night blue dining area. The two living and dining rooms are bright and light, each with a wood burner and plenty of logs to keep things cosy. Each bedroom has been individually styled with a blend of navy and sage green walls, and you'll find modern up-cycled furniture throughout to make you feel like you’re in a boutique hotel. If you fancy a tipple, there's a well-stocked honesty bar. The cottages are set within three acres of private land made up of rolling green hills, flower-filled meadows and tree-studded, landscaped gardens. It's utterly idyllic and you’ll struggle to tear yourself away – but if you can muster up the energy, the bustling market town of Honiton is around six miles away, and Branscombe Beach is a thirty-minute drive from home. Sleeps up to 16 | 11 Bedrooms | 8 Bathrooms

The Drawbridge, Essex, UK

Click to book The Drawbridge now: from £867 per night Over the years, Osea Island in the middle of the River Blackwater in Essex has been used for military purposes, a location for filming and a rehabilitation centre. Today, however, you can have a peaceful break on this unique spot, which is cut off from the mainland by the tide for eight hours out of every twelve — except by means of a water taxi or helicopter, of course. Given the nature of the location, this home has its own eclecticisms, notably the ivy-strewn four-poster beds and orange chequerboard patterns on the living room walls. However, much of it is rustic in appearance, like the rolltop bathtub and the log-burning fireplace in the living room. Outside, there's a patio and garden where you can sit out and enjoy the peaceful isolation, while there are also communal facilities to share with neighbours on the island — of which, there really aren't many. These include a football pitch, tennis court, mini-golf and heated outdoor swimming pool. There's also a fleet of bikes to borrow that let you explore the island's 380 acres of sand dunes, rolling fields and marshland. Sleeps up to 6 | 3 Bedrooms | 3 Bathrooms
