Jacuzzi Dream, Palm Springs, USA
Click to book Jacuzzi Dream now: from £2925 per night This huge Palm Desert home is beyond luxury. A lawn the size of a football pitch (with goalposts you can set up if you fancy a kick about) and a resort-style pool area make up the expansive backyard. There are many ways to escape the desert heat – swimming laps in the giant pool, secreting yourself away in one of the shaded seating areas, or soaking in one of the two sunken Jacuzzis. After the sun streaks the sky pink and orange and you’ve had your fill of uninterrupted mountain views, cosy up by the outdoor fireplace and set up the projector for an open-air cinema experience. Pocket doors fold away to open the great room to the desert air. At dinner time, it’s a choice between cooking in the huge open-plan kitchen indoors or the full alfresco kitchen. Cocktail hour can be taken inside or outside, with two wet bars, depending on whether you prefer darts under the stars or pool in the games room. And for those nights when cooking is just not on the cards, the restaurants of Bermuda Dunes are just a few minutes' drive away. Sleeps up to 14 | 6 Bedrooms | 7 Bathrooms
Naps in the Hammock, Temecula, USA
Click to book Naps in the Hammock now: from £368 per night Anybody that says they're bored at this Temecula villa is either lying or can simply never be entertained, for there's an immense amount of distractions here. Starting outside, sports aficionados will jump with joy at the sight of the tennis and basketball courts, as well as the miniature putting green. Add to that a swimming pool and spa, surrounded by loungers and a hammock, and it's easy to see how sunny afternoons will be mostly spent outdoors. However, that's not to say there's nothing inside. Here guests will find a games room, a pool table and a popcorn machine, all set within a tastefully modern interior heavy on muted greys and wooden panelling. The nearby city of Temecula offers days out for all tastes, from championship golf courses and hiking trails, to the annual Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival held every June. Sleeps up to 16 | 6 Bedrooms | 5 Bathrooms
Casa Tropicana, The Hamptons, USA
Click to book Casa Tropicana now: from £147 per night Live the life of a film star amongst the vintage Hollywood memorabilia of this extraordinary, tropical island retreat. Housed on Shelter Island, this home is a far cry from high rise New York. Retro 80s diner, meet Copacabana. Let your hair down and turn up the volume as you sip a pina colada in the pool from atop an inflatable flamingo and gaze out over the sound and palms. Now that is the life we’re talking about. At your very own Club Tropicana, drinks are free with a stylish cocktail bar to kick start the evening (or the day – there’s no judgement here). Large windows and folding doors out onto balconies and a multi-levelled deck with fire pit and barbecue all draw your eyes to three-hundred feet of your very own private beachfront. Inviting you in for a surf or swim, the water’s call is hard to resist. But, inside, the activities are endless too. A racquetball court, gym, media room with Apple TV, lofted games room with pool and shuffleboard, as well as an indoor pool and spa will have you spoilt for choice. The stars of the screen haven’t got much on you here, and with no director to shout “cut” this life of luxury carries an endless running time, sunset after sunset. Sleeps up to 12 | 6 Bedrooms | 6 Bathrooms
Cavallo Ranch, Palm Springs, USA
Click to book Cavallo Ranch now: from £500 per night Set against the backdrop of Coachella Valley, this ranch has been designed to entertain large families and groups of friends. Whether you're hosting dinner parties under the night sky or competing at a game of volleyball, this is a place to bring people together and make memories. The designers of this ranch have created something special for all generations to enjoy and have ensured there's space for all the family to spread out and make this house a home. The dedicated staff offer a range of experiences, from horseback riding lessons to sounds baths, wine tastings to cookery lessons with a professional chef. There are too many to list here, so have a word with your host to get the full range. Spend evenings gathered around the grand piano for a singalong or hosting a pool tournament. Guests looking to venture out can explore neighbouring Joshua Tree National Park. Sleeps up to 16 | 8 Bedrooms | 8 Bathrooms
The Crest of a Wave, Los Angeles, USA
Click to book The Crest of a Wave now: from £1475 per night It's hard to narrow it down to one thing that's most impressive about this villa, but the fact that the interior manages to compete with the stunning view of Beverly Hills is really quite something. Put together by designers Avi and Shelly Osadan, statement lighting fixtures and giant gold baubles suspended from the tall ceilings are found alongside tall photographic artwork and accent walls in a tree-ring finish. The final effect is part modern art gallery, part Bond villain lair — but completely unique. In the main living area, the floor-to-ceiling windows look out to a stunning panorama of the LA skyline and particularly dramatic sunsets. At the click of a button, these slide up to let you out into the home's outdoor space, which is a lot more minimalist than the home's interior, but no less luxurious for it. We have the feeling that you'll never want to leave the infinity pool, but the hot tub, covered bar area and alfresco seating arranged around a firepit do their best to tempt you away. In the local area, you can keep your elevated position above the city by going for a hike in Franklin Canyon Park, which takes just over a quarter of an hour to reach by car. Alternatively, the designer stores and high-end restaurants on Rodeo Drive are just a twelve-minute drive away, too. Sleeps up to 14 | 8 Bedrooms | 12 Bathrooms
