This home is a breathtaking piece of art and love. The Preservation Design Award from the California Preservation Foundation and a 2021 Best Residential Preservation Award from the Southern California Development Forum are just a couple of the accolades this home boasts. Design enthusiasts will adore this glorious space, for its mid-century architecture with hallmark curved roof (thoughtfully built to echo the shape of the San Jacinto Mountains behind it), and for the vintage modernist furnishings. Built in 1955 as a sculptor’s studio, the house was renovated in 2020 and combines those all-important design elements with luxurious touches. Think a private Ofuro soaking tub, personal whiskey and amaro bar, and a Sonos and vintage Bose sound system complete with a curated record collection. The dreamy lounge opens out to the striking garden area thanks to lofty floor-to-ceiling windows. We recommend renting a bike to explore the city, or following the hiking trails on the handy map provided. After a day exploring Palm Springs and the surrounding desert, enjoy an invigorating sleep on sumptuous Frette Italian linens.

Desert Wave

This Palm Desert villa is just a five-minute walk from the shops, restaurants and galleries of El Paseo. Yet the hiking trails of the Cahuilla Hills Park are on your doorstep, making the most of city and desert at the same time. If you prefer your greenery a little more manicured, one of Palm Desert’s 45 Top Tier golf courses is on your doorstep. The villa itself embraces its mid-century roots with tropical leaf feature walls in the bedrooms and 60s mosaic tiles in the kitchen. The open living room boasts comfy leather sofas and a wall of glass opens up to the complex’s pool area. A shaded, poolside table, chairs and barbecue sit outside, just for you, with a view of the San Jacinto mountains looming beyond. Kids can enjoy a game of frisbee or bocce on the complex’s recreation grounds. 

City & Desert

Palm Springs and golf go together like peanut butter and jelly. With year-round sunshine, sensational mountain and desert views and a laidback lifestyle, few other golfing destinations can even come close. Of course, keen golfers already know this – the tricky bit is finding the right place to stay. Well, try this funky mid-century home out for size. 

Set between the 13th and 14th holes of the Palm Desert Country Club (redesigned by maestro Gary Bickler in 2006), this spectacular home is worthy of becoming any discerning golfer's ultimate Palm Springs oasis. Built in 1972, the inside of this rad pad adopts a contemporary twist on mid-century style. In the living room, there are low slung pendants, grey sofas jazzed up with turquoise cushions and funky watercolour artwork on the walls. 

The bedrooms are all playfully styled, with flamingo print bedding and luxurious faux fur throws. There's an abundance of light in most rooms thanks to generous windows and sliding glass doors, and we love how you can walk straight from the master bedroom into the bubbling jacuzzi. The glittering swimming pool is the ideal spot to stretch out and cool down, and at nightfall, we can't think of anywhere better to be than sitting next to the flickering fire pit while nursing a tumbler of whisky.

Swing Time

With a breezy and bright living area, a sunny garden and bedrooms as comfortable as they are stylish, this mid-century home comes with everything you need to sit back, relax and soak up the desert sunshine. 

Inside, retro design seamlessly blends with 21st-century comforts to create a contemporary ode to the swinging 1950s and 1960s. Sprawl out on the cushy sofa and catch up on your favourite Prime, Netflix or HBO Max shows. Rustle up tasty meals in the gourmet kitchen while listening to your favourite playlists on the Bluetooth sound system, then gather around the dining table for a delicious dinner.

Outside, unobstructed mountain views set the scene for peaceful living. Spend afternoons soaking up the sunshine on the lounge chairs, splashing in the refreshing pool and sipping cocktails on the outdoor sofa. Come dusk, settle around the fire pit for an evening of good conversation and lots of laughter under the stars. 

When you fancy exploring, you're just a seven-minute walk from the boutiques and restaurants at The River shopping centre, a five-minute drive from downtown Palm Desert and forty minutes by car from Joshua Tree National Park. Add in the countless hiking routes and the myriad of award-winning golf courses nearby and you'll never have a dull day in this desert paradise.

Swing On a Star

With magnificent mountain views from every angle, this home is surrounded by towering palm trees and complete with its own heated saltwater pool. Sun loungers promise to keep you comfy and relaxed as you soak up the rays, and a U-shaped rattan sofa presents the ideal spot to kick back with a homemade lemonade and fresh fruit salad. From the outside, this place has it all, and as we make our way through the yellow brick archway into the home, the scenes are equally jaw–dropping.
A mid–century home that’s been freshly updated for a contemporary look and feel, this place is a statement–maker, to say the least. A curation of brightly–coloured pop art pieces decorate the walls and retro accessories contrast coolly with the modern, angular furnishings. We love the fusion of old and new in this place. From the vintage, banana–yellow TV to the retro arcade game in the living room, these nostalgic additions create a space that’s full of fun and character. The bedrooms are bold and inviting, and the master bathroom is a real head–turner. The back wall is covered in luscious green foliage (fake, by the way, so there’s no need to water it!), while the gold taps of the double sink add a touch of grandeur. 
Keen to keep busy? This home is kitted out with fun things for all the family to enjoy. There’s the pool, table tennis, heaps of kids books and toys…you name it, it’s all here, so you’ll never be stuck for stuff to do. Palm Desert is a great area to explore, though, so if you do feel like popping out of your plush private pad for a little while, the El Paseo shopping district is just a short distance away, as is Coachella Valley and The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. 


The Yellow Brick Archway

Welcome to wonderland. This dreamy and expansive Palm Desert home was built at the height of the 1960s, with modern upgrades not detracting from its original mid-century architecture. Designed for entertaining, with games, poolside fun, barbecues and drinks high on the agenda, it's a slice of decadence in the desert.

Set behind high privacy fences, its garden is a riot of fun features, with the pool, sunken spa, four-hole putting green and half basketball court being just the tip of the iceberg. You'll also find sociable outdoor dining spots, sun loungers, a bar and even a quiet place to sit and enjoy the sun away from the rest of the gang. 

Inside, the vaulted ceilings and mid-century fireplace are there as you'd expect, along with contemporary furnishings, concrete tiled floors, modern art and splashes of vibrant colour – none more so than the purple sofas in the living room. A huge, high-spec kitchen opens to a dining room with pink acrylic chairs and there's even a playroom for the kids. 

But it's the bedrooms that do it for us here. Large, impeccably styled rooms with plenty of character, they're all unique and fabulous – with one well suited to kids.

A short drive from the centre of Palm Desert, and with Indian Wells, Palm Springs and the rest of the Coachella Valley within easy reach, it's perfect for keen golfers, happy hikers and, most of all, those wanting to just let their hair down.

South Palm Daydream 

Nestled in the desert, this home doesn't have any neighbours except the cacti and mountains. Two Spanish-style villas make up the property, with a beautiful, turquoise swimming pool tucked in between them. Wander to the bottom of the garden and you'll find a white stone hot tub and sun lounger platform where you can relax and drink in the panoramic mountain views.  Hikes through the epic wilderness are easy from here, and your host can organise a massage or yoga class for when you return. Dining can take place indoors or outdoors – you might like to hire a private chef to create a delicious and nutritious meal as you watch the sunset with a cool drink. With no light pollution, the stargazing here is fantastic, but if you'd like a change from the quiet of the desert then the sights and sounds of Palm Springs are just a 10 minute drive away. 

Dulce de Leche

Set within the Sandpiper community – one of the original mid-century complexes in the Coachella Valley – this Historically Listed home was designed by famed architect William Krisel. A Hockney painting come to life, this single-level retreat places the best of southern California at your fingertips – you're just a short drive from Joshua Tree National Park, Coachella Valley, national forests and lakes here. At home, the pool offers the chance to mix with the other residents, while the sleek interior is a stylish backdrop for dinner parties or general relaxation. With an abundance of space, you won't be on top of each other here – it's perfect for both families or two couples, and there's driveway space for having friends over too. Along with the great outdoors, the home also positions you perfectly for shopping, museums, zoos, and copious rounds of golf. 

Krisel Krisel

Nestled in the Sunrise Country Club and neighbouring Palm Springs, this condo combines the best of Coachella Valley living. Sleek slate grey interiors create a calming atmosphere inside, while squishy king size beds ensure a perfect night’s sleep. The view out of each window looks like a postcard. Lush green plant life, desert flowers, blue mountains and palm tree studded landscapes will take your breath away at every turn.  

Start the day with coffees at the stylish breakfast bar, whip up a hearty meal in the high spec kitchen. Out front, sliding glass doors provide easy access from the bedrooms to a sun-soaked al fresco dining area, as well as a private courtyard with a water feature, and a fire pit for cooler evenings beneath the stars. 

When you're not relaxing in the balmy Cali air, there's a litany of activities around the resort to keep you busy too. Cool off with a dip in one of twenty-one swimming pools (that's right), serve aces on the residents’ tennis courts, or tee off at the golf course, enjoying panoramic vistas of the San Jacinto mountains while you putt. You could easily stay within the Country Club forever, but for the more intrepid explorers, Joshua Tree national park is just a 45 minute drive away, where you can hike, climb, or stargaze in the otherworldly terrain. 

Day Dream

Relax in a chic and modern desert retreat in supreme comfort. The home is uber contemporary and monochrome, with divine gold-fitted bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling glass doors, plush textiles, and a very elegant dining area. This home is all about the views though - be sure to have that camera ready for the splendour of the San Jacinto Mountain Range. Cool off instantly in the essential pool and relax in the evenings with chilled drinks on the terrace in the outside lounge. A group of friends who enjoy hiking, nature, or just the finer things in life are sure to have a memorable stay at this well-manicured home in the heart of gorgeous Palm Desert. 

Blush & Velvet

With epic views of the Santa Rosa Mountains, this home is South California at its best. Stylish and homely, with an excellent range of facilities, it's a luxurious spot to begin your adventures in the Coachella Valley. 

The area is known for its mid-century modern aesthetic, and this home is no exception. You'll love the carefully created retro pieces, from the lavish curved sofa to the cheerful orange armchair. Head outside, and you'll find a spacious garden surrounded by palm trees and other plants. The swimming pool is the perfect place to enjoy a refreshing dip, before dining on a delicious grilled feast hot off the barbeque. And, when the sun goes down, you can enjoy a dip in the hot tub, or huddle around the fire pit to share stories after dark. 

Hikers can lace up their boots and explore the wild landscapes – Magnesia Spring Ecological Reserve is only a twenty-minute walk from here. If you'd prefer a round of golf, then you're spoilt for choice, with the nearest course just a five-minute drive away. And, Palm Desert's mile-long shopping district El Paseo is also just five minutes away, so you can treat yourself at the boutiques before enjoying dinner at one of the top restaurants nearby. 

Palms In Paradise

With breathtaking views of the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Mountains from the pool area, this home has it all if you're looking for a relaxing trip to Palm Springs. The pool is equipped with a built-in spa and there's also a barbecue for the chefs that like to cook and dine alfresco. The fact that this home boasts not just one, but two living areas is an indication of the level of luxury guests will receive when staying here. Go on a tour of the area's famous mid-century architecture or sign up for the local golf club, however you choose to spend your time in Palm Springs, it's sure to be memorable.
