This third-floor apartment makes an ideal base for a family or friends visiting Porto – if you’re a group of six, just bear in mind that two will draw the short straw and sleep on the sofa bed in the living room. From the small balcony, you can spot the sea in the distance – and it’s no wonder, with a plethora of beaches within walking distance. The only difficulty? Choosing which one to visit first. And while there’s no free parking here, public transport is readily available and there’s plenty within walking distance, so a car is entirely optional.

About Foz do Douro

Once a hub for fishing and commerce, Foz do Douro is now an upmarket neighbourhood that sits at the meeting point of the Douro river and the ocean. It’s considered the most affluent area of Porto, and many of its residents are professionals who commute into the city. It’s also popular with more elderly residents looking for peace and quiet.
