Set in a gorgeous 20th-century building only a five-minute walk from the Piazza di Spagna, this home delivers on location in spades. You're surrounded by mouth-watering restaurants, traditional cafes and upscale shops, not to mention all the museums, landmarks (including The Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain) and galleries within walking distance. Spend an afternoon wandering Rome's cobbled streets before enjoying an aperitif at one of the trendy bars in this neighbourhood. When you've had your fun for the day, retreat home to this bright and roomy apartment. Inside, it's uncluttered and minimal, which only enhances the relaxing atmosphere. Our favourite spot is the long balcony, which is shaded from the Italian sun by a leafy trellis. Sit out there in the evenings with a glass of wine and admire the views before unwinding with a soak in the lush deep bathtub.

Home truths

Two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living area

The shower in the master en-suite is only 180cm high – tall guests will need to mind their heads

The kitchen lacked cooking ingredients, but we didn't mind not cooking – Italy is famous for its cuisine, after all

The balcony borders the owner's terrace, so a French door and a shutter will always remain shut for privacy reasons
