Parakeet has several features that set it apart from most other places. We particularly liked the mirror in the living room, set in a beautifully carved wooden piece, It’s not actually someone’s home – it’s rented out the whole time – but despite that, it’s a long way from the kind of soulless place that you can sometimes come across. It’s also very conveniently placed near several metro stations, as well as the Catholic University.

Don't be alarmed if the lift feels like it's swaying a bit – it's normal
There are only single plugs by the bedside tables, so you'll have to choose between a reading light and charging your phone
The main bathroom doesn't have any windows and the extractor fan is quite noisy
When we visited, there were works on a new metro line taking place outside the house and you could hear them from inside

The neighbourhoods of Sant'Ambrogio & San Vittore sit on the South-West edge of Milan's historical centre. Sant'Ambrogio is home to the Universitá Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, the city's largest private university, so the area has a large student population. As a result, you’ll find lots of inexpensive restaurants, cafés, sandwich shops, and pizzerias. The fact that it has a large student population isn't to suggest that it is low-end though...
