Located near the entrance to Castelo São Jorge, this apartment is a perfect stay for history lovers – the building itself is over three hundred years old. With traditional wooden ceilings, floors and shutters, this home maintains a warm traditional vibe without compromising on comfort. The street scenes of Alfama below you are a little slice of medieval Lisbon, and you can walk to many of the city's best-loved attractions in just a few minutes. A wander to the Castelo will take just three minutes and, in the opposite direction, you'll find the remains of a Roman theatre built for emperor Nero. As you stroll north, the area will slowly transform into Mouraria, another history-filled neighbourhood which is a pleasure to explore. Your host can also arrange extra-special services for you, ranging from massages and breakfast to helicopter tours and wine tastings. Back at home, you can luxuriate in the hydro massage shower cabin, or pour a nightcap to enjoy on one of the two small balconies as you reflect on your fabulous day.

About Alfama

As Lisbon’s oldest neighbourhood, it’s not surprising that Alfama is also the corner of the city with the most character. Here, you’ll get an authentic taste of the real Portugal, away from the tourist-trodden trails of the centre. Unlike most of Lisbon, this area survived the famous 1755 earthquake, preserving an image of the old capital. Steep, cobbled streets are flanked with down-to-earth cafés, crumbling churches and intimate fado venues...
