Given its fantastic Bairro Alto location, we were surprised by how quiet this apartment is. It's in a secluded, peaceful spot, yet only 300 metres from some of the neighbourhood's busiest streets – so it offers the best of both worlds. Here you'll find an array of fabulous restaurants and bars. Shopaholics can visit the stylish boutiques of Chiado, a seven-minute stroll away, while lovers of antiques can head to the Príncipe Real district, just over ten minutes on foot. Lisbon Cathedral is a twenty-minute walk, and São Jorge Castle is just a little further if you want to explore some of the city’s much-loved attractions. Timeout Market, on the other hand, is just over a ten-minute saunter, so pick up some food or flowers to take back to your home. It's housed in a historic building set in pretty grounds with lovely views. Enjoy a cold drink on the large, sunny private patio and rest your feet – it's the perfect spot for an alfresco breakfast – whip up a smoothie or your hosts can organise breakfast for you. Inside, we love the large bedrooms – one is designed as a cute children's room, complete with toys and books. The huge L shaped sofa will accommodate your whole group – it's a great place to relax – that's what holidays are all about after all.

About Saldanha
Saldanha is the uptown business district of Lisbon, filled with designer shops and upscale restaurants that contrast the modern buildings where many locals spend their working days. But it's not like Saldanha closes down after five – there's plenty of residents who appreciate the neighbourhood's sleek look. As a consequence, Saldanha has a great fresh food market, a few cosy cafes, parks and everything else you might need for a great stay. The traffic connections are fast and abundant, meaning most parts of Central Lisbon are only a short train ride away.
