5.0

Situated in leafy Greenwich, this charming flat is set away from the hustle and bustle. Cosy and welcoming, we loved everything about this home, from the exposed brick and beamed ceilings to the curated selection of books to flick through. With a huge TV, plenty of sumptuous seating, Sonos Bluetooth speakers and a well-stocked kitchen, this will feel like a true home-from-home. Pour yourself a glass of wine (your host leaves a bottle for you) and settle down for a meal around the dining table before kicking back with a movie in the living room. Then, nod off in the comfortable bed feeling completely relaxed. Greenwich Park – where you'll find sweeping views of London's skyline as well as the famous Royal Observatory – is right around the corner, and there are also plenty of cafes, gastropubs, shops, restaurants and nautical museums about a twenty-minute walk away in Greenwich Village. When you're ready to head into the city, Maze Hill station is a ten-minute walk and can get you into central London in less than twenty minutes or, for a more leisurely pace, climb aboard the Thames Clipper and enjoy a boat ride on the river, passing by some of London's most famous landmarks.

Home truths

This flat is situated on the second floor of a converted house and doesn't have a lift – you may bump into neighbours in the shared hallway

The bathroom layout is a little unusual as the toilet is in a separate room

This is a lived-in home, so expect some general wear and tear – there will also be storage space and cupboards with the host's belongings

The shower head is quite low in the bathroom (only 172cm)

Parking on the street is potentially available via a permit at an additional charge – we suggest leaving the car behind and making use of London's excellent transport links

This is a great option for those working in Canary Wharf (a half-hour away via the DLR) or seeing a show at the O2 Arena (a fifteen-minute taxi ride)

About Greenwich

If maritime history, global time-keeping, and grand architecture by Sir Christopher Wren are your bag, then Greenwich is the place for you. It might not be the most central option on our books, but there's certainly plenty going for it. It's home to The Royal Naval College, The National Maritime Museum and The Royal Observatory (the latter marks the spot of the Meridian Line, the place where time begins and ends) and once you've had your fill of museum action, we recommend exploring the historic Greenwich Market, which should more than satisfy all your antique and foodie needs.

Host

This home is managed by Simon

This home is managed directly by its owner who will be your point of contact before and during your stay. Si and Theo are both civil servants who love Greenwich for its abundance of leafy greenery and peaceful feel. They also love travel, books, motorbikes, technology and food – their cast iron skillet is their favourite kitchen item. They're looking forward to welcoming new guests into their home while they are away.
