As one of the first high-end net-zero houses in the area, this dreamy Mauntauk home is sustainable, ideally located and looks pretty good, too. Modern and bright, it has plenty of space for a big group but leads out onto a sweeping garden, just in case you need a little extra. Kids will love the swimming pool and manicured lawn, while adults will likely appreciate the hot tub more. The deck is perfect for alfresco dining and barbecues, and with the cover of the towering trees, the space feels tranquil and private. You also have direct access to the private Hither Hills Beach, seven minutes away, in case you thought it couldn't get any better.

The swimming pool – available between 1st May and 30th September – isn't fenced. If you're bringing little ones, they'll need to be supervised.
As there are stairs to climb here, it might not be the best option for those with reduced mobility.
Though a car isn't essential, you'll find parking here should you choose to hire.
The bedroom curtains here don't fully block out the sunlight. If you're hoping to enjoy a lie-in, you might want to pack an eye mask.
If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a high chair for free.
