Journey to the edge of Britain... or, at least, to one of the most secluded locations on the Essex coast. It's well worth the adventure to reach Osea Island, which is only accessible at low tide, as once you're there the pretty island is a joy to explore. Make the most of the peace and quiet by staying in this pretty bungalow just steps from the beach. This home-from-home has a shabby-chic feel; the living room has a wood burner and squashy sofas, ideal for cooler nights. Despite the isolated location, it's impossible to get bored, with the island's heated pool, croquet lawn, football pitch, tennis court and more at your disposal.

About Essex
Despite being so close to London, Essex is a world apart. With rolling countryside that inspired Constable, one of Britain's greatest landscape painters, delightful seaside towns and a host of secret coastal islands, Essex surprises at every turn. Where else in the UK can you walk past Queen Elizabeth's hunting lodge in Epping Forest, enjoy a Michelin-starred lunch near Maldon (of sea salt fame), before spending your afternoon lounging in...
