Do you have a question about this home or the local area?

Tolkien fans, we've found you the most realistic Hobbit home in Sussex. Enter through the round wooden door (reminiscent of Bilbo's), and you’ll find yourself in a unique living room. Kick back on the patchwork couch by a roaring fire and admire the cobalt ceiling covered in stars – the dwarves could come knocking any minute. Padding about this home, you'll have warmth under your feet as there’s underfloor heating throughout. Built by local craftsmen, we love the curved walls and oak flooring – while the exposed stone in the bathrooms and the wooden log counters in the kitchen lend a rustic feel. Set against a backdrop of rolling countryside, it’s easy to imagine you’re in the Shire here. Frodo didn’t have the private hot tub outside though. After a long day, relax with garden views and a glass of sparkling rosé (this home is on the owner’s vineyard) and watch the moon rise over this magical place.

About The High Weald

The fourth largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England and Wales, it’s one of our most ancient landscapes and covers an area of nearly 1,500 square kilometres across Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex and Surrey. Simply put, it’s the huge, mostly flat part of the south east that fits neatly in between the hills of the North and South Downs. Taken from the Old English word ‘wald’, meaning forest,...

Host

This home is managed by Oliver

This home is managed directly by a business. A member of their staff will be your point of contact before and during your stay. Nearly twenty years ago, Oliver and his friend began curating the world's most unique and rustic getaways. Driven by their own unforgettable experience at a chateau, they have grown remarkably since then. Much like Plum, they believe in hand-picked luxury that doesn't break the bank.

This home is nominated for the Plum Guide Award.
