Balancing new with the old isn’t always easy yet this five-bedroom home near Padstow does it with ease. Spread over three floors, the home is defined by its grey Cornish stone, exposed beams and open brick features, yet it is anything but traditional. The owners have modernised this former coach house so that it offers every creature comfort including plush sofas, modern balconies, a cutting-edge kitchen, slick bathrooms and even a games room whilst still keeping the cottagey feel alive. The home suits winter and summer stays – curl up on a sofa in front of the double-faced log burner on chilly nights or throw open the doors onto the sun-baked patio for alfresco pre-surf breakfasts when the temperature rises. The home lends itself well to groups of friends and families looking to explore the north Cornwall coastline. Children of all ages will love the big garden, and the home is roomy enough for three generations of a family to share. Muster up the energy to leave this lovely home and you’ll discover that Padstow – home to Rick Stein’s famous fish and chips café – is just a short drive away. For those with energy to burn, Cornwall’s northern beaches offer some of the UK’s best surfing and sailing, and there are also off-road cycling trails, coastal walks and golf courses nearby.

About Cornwall

Believed to be the birthplace of King Arthur, the ancient kingdom of Cornwall (or Kernow as it's known to locals) is a magical place of myths and legends. It is also bestowed with some of the most beautiful beaches in the southwest, if not the country. We're talking Porthcurno Beach with its Caribbean like waters, the hidden oasis of Whitsand Bay and the pristine white shores of Kynance Cove, a...

This home is managed by Oliver

This home is managed directly by a business. A member of their staff will be your point of contact before and during your stay. Nearly twenty years ago, Oliver and his friend began curating the world's most unique and rustic getaways. Driven by their own unforgettable experience at a chateau, they have grown remarkably since then. Much like Plum, they believe in hand-picked luxury that doesn't break the bank.

This home is nominated for the Plum Guide Award.
