This charming grade II-listed 17th-century cottage will set the scene perfectly for a quintessential British countryside stay. Recently restored by Suffolk’s heritage team, this home will take you back to a bygone era of the 1650s in elegant fashion. While keeping the original features as the pride of place, the cottage has been updated to include all the usual mod-cons needed for a comfortable rural getaway. Stepping into the living room to look around, you'll be struck by the grand timber beams, exposed brickwork and inglenook fireplace – it really is a picture of idyllic country-house living. Through to the quaint kitchen and dining area, you're set up for a feast with plenty of seating at the rustic wooden table and tasteful artwork and antiques dotted around to make you feel at home. Upstairs, the timber structure really makes its mark, with high vaulted ceilings and wooden floorboards adding to the bold period architecture. Speaking of, you'll discover an old post room back downstairs, with a comfy sofa and chair, so you can watch the world go by as the Postmaster would have hundreds of years ago. Outside, the cottage is set on 15 acres of private parkland, so nature is at your fingertips here. Bask on the patio and indulge in a hearty breakfast using the fresh milk and bread provided for your stay. Stroll through the unspoiled surroundings, winding in and out of picturesque Constable Country over long days out in the East English countryside. Drive down to the next village along, Dedham, for traditional pubs and shops, in just seven minutes.
