This cute-as-a-button LA Hills home has a comforting, cabin-like feel. With canyon views, homespun gingham curtains and timbered ceilings, it’s hard to believe you’re in one of the world’s great metropolises. Colourful kilim rugs, live-edge tables and a wood burner in one of the bedrooms all add to the urban-wilderness vibe. Walk through the well-kept garden of succulents and you’ll find the third bedroom in its own private cabin. In contemporary plywood, with a neat fold-away bed and its own workstation, it offers total privacy from the rest of your group, if you need it. While the look here may be rustic, the tech is anything but. After the sun goes down, pour a glass of Mezcal and put some Cali-soul tunes on the turntable, or enjoy your own private movie-theatre experience on the cinema-quality projector. When you’re ready to leave your slice of country in the city, Downtown LA is just fifteen minutes away by car.
