Padstow is one of the original Cornish greats. Right by the sea, it has a dining scene that’s next level and cobbled village streets so chocolate-box-pretty you could eat them up. And yes, it’s popular. Which is why this cosy pocket of serenity, right in the heart of the bustle, has caught our attention. This place is a nest-like hideaway that’s all comfort and style, a loft apartment that’s quintessentially fishing village. Mid-century furniture and pops of colour in the form of framed prints and cushions bring a cool, homely charm. Sink into one of two plump sofas with your morning coffee and people-watch from the window – the whole living area is made sunny-bright with a wall of glass overlooking the charming street below. The kitchen is a good size and has everything you’d need to knock up a feast. Although the lure of arguably the best fish and chips in the land might render the oven useless (Rick Stein’s various eateries are a short stroll from the sofa). Spend days crabbing from Padstow harbour, exploring the local boutiques or cycling the stunning Cornish coastline. Jump in the car for The Eden Project or surf famous Fistral Beach before retreating back to your Padstow nest.
