Moreton-in-Marsh is a quintessential Cotswolds market town, sixteen minutes by car from the more well-known Bourton-on-the-Water. Further off the tourist track, its high street is brimming with elegant eighteenth-century inns, tea rooms, independent boutiques, and of course country pubs. And right in the town centre of these ancient streets, this once humble candlemaker's shop has been converted into a home of finesse, character, and style. Down a lane of honey-coloured stone walls, you’ll find this tasteful renovation. The exteriors are the first thing to note – in summer months, slide open the bi-fold doors and spend all day in your enclosed patio. Serve brunch on the picnic bench, fire up the barbecue for lunch, then pour a glass of champers while you stargaze from the hot tub. In winter months, it’s all about the great indoors. Head inside to find elegant contrasts from all eras. Wood-panelled walls and a chesterfield sofa sit beneath a modern skylight. A classic, iron wood-burning stove sits warmly at the heart of the home, while a sleek kitchen and industrial-style lighting fixtures illuminate the space (rather than the candles of old). We love the use of colour and sense of playfulness too – find board games, musical instruments, and cocktail equipment to shake things up before bed.
