Most loved

As many of the Jurassic Coast’s fossils and geological phenomenons are over sixty-five million years old, this three-hundred-year-old fisherman’s cottage seems young in comparison. But this charming home, just a five-minute walk from the starting point of the Jurassic Coast, still offers plenty of historic charm. In the heart of this quaint village, next to the rolling waters of the River Lim, your cottage’s private, cobbled patio is ideal for balmy evenings with a chilled glass of wine and a barbecue. Or on chilly afternoons, step inside to its bright and cosy living space. We love its understated decor (with some nautical nods) in neutral tones – it’s a calming environment that’s wonderful for a family escape. Imagine gathering round the roaring hearth with a hot cup of cocoa after a long day of exploring the coast. If Lyme Regis' pebble beach and the sandy shore of Monmouth Beach aren’t enough for you, hop in the car and take an eight-minute drive to the striking Fossil Beach – also known as Ammonite Pavement. And if you’re still hungry for more history, the Dinosaurland Fossil Museum is just a two-minute stroll from home.

Home truths

You'll need to climb stairs to access the bedrooms – and as this is a three-hundred-year-old cottage, the stairs are quite steep and uneven

Since the photoshoot, the second bedroom has been updated with two single beds

There's a washing machine but no tumble dryer – a clothes drying rack is provided instead

If you're bringing the little ones, your host provides a cot, children's tableware, books, and toys, a high chair, and fireplace guards

The entrance to this home is private, but the back patio is not fully fenced for privacy (only partly fenced)

There's a lockbox for self check-in, so you might not meet your host in person

The sofa is not the most comfortable to lounge and relax on

About The Jurassic Coast

Before the kids get too excited – no, you will not see any dinosaurs here. The real powerful ruler of this kingdom is the sea. Over millions of years, this mighty force has shaped and carved the area into striking cliffs and coves. The imposing coastline, with its stacked rocks and arches, is a pilgrimage for geologists. When these sapphire shores crashed against the limestone of the coast, the arched...

This home is managed by Mike

This home is managed directly by its owner who will be your point of contact before and during your stay. Mike and his partner Anna are veterans of the live music industry, so appreciate the peace and quiet of Lyme Regis more than most. They run a handful of boutique stays in the Old Town, so give them a shout if you need local recommendations – or a playlist.
