This charming cottage in the centre of Sherborne has everything for all your desires, being in your own private home while still having a hotel next door where you can utilise their facilities is the best of both worlds. On a Thursday or Saturday, there will be plenty of delicious cuisine on display at Cheap Street's Pannier Market, where you can seek a bargain or two while admiring the old architecture. After that, stop by a quaint side street café for a slice of cake and a cup of coffee. If you're feeling daring, cycle along National Cycle Network Route 26 to the intriguing towns of Dorchester and Weymouth, as well as several picturesque villages along the way, culminating at the Isle of Portland. Back at the cottage, light the toasty fireplace to warm up around after a day of wandering through town or cycling for that matter, for a tranquil way to relax after all that exertion, before prepping the barbecue for alfresco dining on a warm summer night with a bottle of rosé to cheers to. After dinner, take a soak in the hot tub and reminisce about what a fantastic day you've had.

About Dorset
If you want to immerse yourself in the England of yesteryear, a trip to the county of Dorset is a good place to start. The author Thomas Hardy seemed to concur – he drew heavily on his experience growing up around these parts to create the fictionalised rural idyll of Wessex that was the setting for many of his books. It’s fair to say that not too much has changed...
