This pretty stone country house sits just off the shores of Lago Trasimeno, the fourth-largest lake in Italy. Trasimeno blends the beautiful regions of Umbria and Tuscany so you can be sure of stunning views and incredible food. The villa is just five minutes from Magione, where you can sip coffee in a piazza and watch the world go by. The enchanting medieval towns of Passignano and Castiglione del Lago are twelve and twenty-three minutes away, both offering fascinating history and wonderful views. Even if you’re not a history buff, wandering the narrow streets with a gelato in-hand is a lovely way to spend an afternoon. The lake is surrounded by sunflower fields, olive groves and acres of oak and cypress trees – it’s so peaceful and picturesque. There are hiking trails aplenty, as well as beaches along the shore. The breath-taking views of this idyllic setting can be enjoyed from the villa’s balcony and its spacious grounds. The refreshing pool looks out over the lake, giving a morning swim a real sense of tranquillity. For even more relaxation, watch the sun set over the lake from the terrace, then move to the heated indoor pool. You can spot the stars emerging in the night sky from the floor-to-ceiling windows.
