Sitting right on the edge of Matera's ravine and overlooking the ancient limestone town, your locale's fascinating palaeolithic past comes into sharp focus from this luxurious apartment. Arched stone ceilings combine with dazzling white walls and stunning artworks to create a space that’s as soothing as it is stylish. We love the open-plan layout of the main living area that gets ample natural light from the large glass doors leading out onto a private terrace. Decked out in soft cushioned seats and boasting a glass ledge proferring postcard-perfect views over the ravine, this is where you’ll want to while away the hours, feasting on the far-reaching vistas over a morning coffee or evening sundowner. There’s an outdoor tub here too with hot and cold water for further relaxation – as well as yoga mats should you wish to practice your sun salutations – while back inside, the upstairs bedroom has a freestanding tub that beckons luxurious hours with yet more incredible views to enjoy. When you’re ready to venture out for some sightseeing, walk fifteen minutes to discover the Sassi di Matera Unesco World Heritage Site and visit the Palombaro lungo, a subterranean cistern known as the “Cathedral of Water”, a ten-minute stroll away. With your host able to organise hikes and horseriding excursions as well, you're all set for a memorable time.
