Once a humble farm building back in the past, this home is now a Grade-II listed home surrounded by three acres of grounds and orchards in rural Cheshire. Despite this sense of heritage, the interior is more contemporary in style, with stark white walls, a smart grey kitchen and a whirlpool tub in one of the bathrooms. Of course, it wouldn't feel like a real country getaway without a log-burner and there's one ready and waiting for chilly evenings in the living room. If you're visiting during the warmer months, however, there's a private patio complete with a gas barbecue, as well as plenty of quiet spots out among the grounds. The hosts really make the most of this outdoor space and are happy to share their homemade produce — be it cider, apple juice or fresh eggs from the chickens that also call the address home. It's fair to say that the home's location is isolated, but there are plenty of distractions if you look hard enough. Cyclists and walkers are fond of Bickerton Hill, which lies ten minutes' drive away, while the historic town of Chester only takes half an hour to reach in the car.
