Summers here are all about the Alpine walking trails that lead right from the front door of this charming Austrian apartment. While winters are when the ski slopes come to life. You’re just across the road from the ski lift up to Marienberg where you’ll find runs for all levels in ski season. There are a handful of restaurants on your street, and a few more to explore a six-minute drive away in Ehrwald. The cabin itself is a vision of ink-black and pine-wood, like a bijou chalet all to yourself. A wall of glass along the living area lets the sunshine stream in and displays a snowy scene outside as you relax on the plush, L-shaped sofa or dine at the huge dining table. There’s nothing better than watching the snow fall outside as a fire burns in the stove in the centre of the room. Alpine decor touches like the antler feature light above the dining table and sheepskin rugs and throws add a level of mountain cosiness. The real bonus is the outside space, with a picnic table on the patio draped with sheepskin throws and tree-stump seats like something from a fairy realm. If it’s too chilly for outdoors, head inside and heat up in the sauna before diving into a snowdrift.
