Sitting above the bottom end of the famous Avenida da Liberdade, this pristine apartment offers a wonderfully modern interior in an excellent position within the Portuguese capital. Aside from the parquet flooring and the handful of houseplants, the design follows a fairly strict monochrome theme, with soothingly white walls and furnishings only broken up by black-framed artworks. The sleek surfaces in the minimalist kitchen and bathroom are achingly en vogue, while the bedroom keeps things pared-back too. One thing that guests are sure to appreciate is the balcony which has a splendid view of Praça dos Restauradores. Guests are really spoilt for choice when it comes to attractions in the local area. The 18th-century pink Foz Palace, now used for events, sits just across the street and Jardim de São Pedro de Alcântara's photogenic vantage points can be reached in eight minutes on foot. Also surrounding the address are theatres, art galleries, museums and no end of restaurants.

About Mouraria

With street performers, Fado shows and lots of unmissable sights, Mouraria should be at the top of your list. A trip through its narrow streets is like stepping back in time, revisiting the rich cultural background even before the great earthquake of 1755. In fact, the story goes that Fado was born in Mouraria, and it’s since made its way to the UNESCO World Heritage list. Although it’s quite central, this neighbourhood has a strong local community and an independent art scene that will show you a side of old, nostalgic Lisbon that you won’t find anywhere else.
