Tucked away in Sag Harbor Cove, this home is in an excellent spot for exploring The Hamptons. Not only are the cove's calm waters a three-minute stroll away – ideal if you're keen on rowing and fishing – but Long Beach is an easy three-minute drive when you fancy spending a day by the coast. With its mom-and-pop shops, mouth-watering eateries and old-school fisherman's cottages, Sag Harbor's Main Street is charming down to its core – and, better still, it's less than ten minutes by car. There's truly something for everyone here. Back at home, lounge the day away in the sunny garden, flitting between splashing in the pool and soaking up the summer rays. The grassy garden calls for yard games until the sun goes down – your host can provide a selection for you – followed by a barbecue under the stars. Inside, the contemporary design evokes the coastal surroundings, from the seashell artwork down to the sand, white and blue colour scheme. Each room is as stylish and comfortable as the last, and none more so than the light-filled kitchen. Keen chefs will find it a dream to cook in, especially with their favourite songs on the Sonos speakers and a glass of wine at the ready. And, best of all, there are two separate lounges – one for adults and a den perfect for kids – so everyone will have their own space.

Melville’s Moby Dick makes a few references to this historical harbour, and its strong maritime roots and whaling past give this town its relaxed seaside feel. Today you’ll find sailboats and even yachts in the marina, but Sag Harbor’s streets still harken back to its 18th...
