Nestled away high up in the Alps, the mountain village of Flumet has long been the destination of choice for savvy skiers and those who worship the great outdoors. This apartment in the resort's centre might not be a photogenic chalet or the most luxurious of escapes, but it's a solid choice for anybody treating themselves to a visit to the locale. The design is more contemporary than cosy, with walls painted in stylishly muted hues and the kitchen defined by clean lines and sleek surfaces. There's a Scandi influence in many of the furnishings, something also seen in the raw wooden finishes dotted about the interior. One thing that deserves a special mention is the private balcony, which has seating from which to take in the mountain scenery and even people-watch on the streets below if you so wish. During the ski season, there are a wealth of routes to be discovered nearby and there's even a free shuttle bus that leaves from the centre of the village which will take you up to the foot of the slopes. It also helps that the home has lockers and boot dryers, too. If you're visiting during the warmer months, there's still lots to do – why not go swimming in Lake Flumet or rambling across the verdant hillsides instead?
