With six luxurious bedrooms, four calm-inspiring bathrooms, an opulent 70s-style living area complete with a retro-feeling full bar and finished in complementary tones of teal and copper, as well as another reception area where you'll find brightly coloured furnishings and cool pop-art style pieces adorning the walls, this home reminds us of a Bond villain's secret bolt-hole. Equipped with an array of gadgetry that would give Goldfinger a run for his money, the quirky kitchen boasts countertop grilling stations on a central circular island that looks as though it was lifted straight out of a space station. Step outside and you'll find a huge garden centred around a stunning swimming pool, given an extra layer of grandeur courtesy of the pillars that surround it on three sides and around which the house wraps itself. With plenty of shaded seating areas as well as sun loungers and an authentic wood-fired churrasco, the garden provides the perfect place to relax and unwind – until it's time to entertain, party, and socialise. It's giving us major 1970s Palm Springs vibes, and we can just imagine the scene being immortalised in a Slim Adams print. In a family-friendly neighbourhood by the sea, the home is located 900 metres from the sandy beach of Praia do Cavalo Preto sand beach and a kilometre from the fantastically golden sands of Forte Novo. In the local area, you will have your pick of restaurants serving everything from traditional chicken piri-piri and other regional specialties made with fresh local produce, to Asian fusion, and seafood pulled from the waters around the town.

Additional fees

• Your host can provide a cot for €30 per stay and a high chair for €20 per stay, or €40 for both

• Heating is available in the winter months for €5 per night

• Your sheets will be changed every two weeks for free – should you require your sheets to be changed more often than that it will incur an extra charge of €120 per stay, but as there is a washing machine we would suggest washing sheets and towels at the villa where possible
