If you want to experience Puglia like a local, this incredible villa is a great choice. It can be found on the outskirts of Castellana Grotte, along a private drive lined with Mediterranean plants and ancient olive and cherry trees. When you first spot the Trulli, you’ll feel the magic of this authentic home. The home is spread between the traditional Trulli – the unusual conical-roofed homes found in this part of Italy – and the modern main house. It makes for a great home for a family trip where the focus is on relaxing and spending quality time together. The villa is secluded, so you’ll need a car to get around and see the sights – though you might find that you’re happy to stay put, swimming in the infinity pool, which has a hydro-massage function, and lounging on the terrace. Dine outside and revel in the peace and quiet, having a go at preparing classic Puglian cuisine. If you find yourself longing for a day at the beach, you need only drive to Monopoli. After swimming in the sea, you might stroll to the 16th-century historical centre for lunch in a pretty piazza.

Home truths

Due to the location of this home, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay

Your host can provide cots and high chairs for free – just bring your own cot linen

Bedroom three does not have a door so isn’t the most private – we think it’s best suited to children

There are two bedrooms in the Trulli, and one in the tower

Young children should be supervised by the infinity pool as it’s not fenced and has a drop

There are stairs to climb at this home so it may not be suitable for those with reduced mobility

Puglia’s also famous for its Trulli houses. The conical stone roofs of these huts are synonymous...
