Set in one of our favourite parts of the city, just on the banks of the river, it's tucked away in such a peaceful little courtyard you may find it hard to comprehend you're in the centre of Paris. This ground-floor apartment has been refurbished recently and mixes period features like high ceilings with modern minimalism, a sleek white kitchen and a touch of industrial styling. Comfortable, bright and surprisingly private, it's a real retreat away from the bustling city streets.

Step outside each morning and grab a coffee and croissant as you stroll along the Seine – it's just a six-minute walk to take in the impressive view of Notre Dame, currently being restored. Close to the buzzing Latin Quarter, there's no shortage of great places to eat, drink and shop, and most of the city's big attractions are within walking distance.

But stick around in Le Marais, and you’ll find niche museums, bijou boutiques and galleries, and trendy bars. The apartment itself is in a handsome Haussmann building of big windows and wrought-iron balconies. Stepping inside feels like stepping into one of the chichi galleries of Le Marais as big, bold contemporary artworks adorn the white walls in high-ceiling rooms. The French windows in the living room look out over an internal courtyard, so it’s blissfully quiet – perfect if you want to curl up on the velvet sofa with a book from the mini-library. The kitchen is all sleek modernism, with a quartz island and sunny breakfast table for a morning coffee and croissant.

Rustic yet regal, this is the kind of pied a terre that only Paris can pull off. On the banks of the Seine, it’s just across the river from Île de la Cité with Notre Dame in one direction (a fifteen-minute walk away) and The Louvre in the other (a ten-minute walk). Despite its city-centre location, the decor is distinctly provincial with wood-beamed ceilings painted sunflower yellow and hand-cut tiles in the bathroom from the south of France. A mural depicting medieval France sits behind the country-style dining table and the walls are adorned with equine paintings. In the buzzing heart of Paris, this place is a little slice of provincial life and a soothing place to return to after a day of sightseeing.

Paris’ 1st arrondissement isn’t number one for just any old reason. Home to the Louvre/Palais-Royal neighbourhood, this is a historically lavish part of the city where you'll find some of the biggest attractions. A four-minute walk from the Palais du Louvre itself, this apartment certainly continues on a majestic theme. Through a courtyard full of lush plants, the entrance to this building has the famous cream-coloured walls of Parisian homes that you’d expect. However, the interiors tell another story. A rich orange sofa welcomes you to the modern living space – with exposed brickwork, a glossy tiled breakfast bar, and a full-length glass partition wall to break up the bedrooms. While frosted windows save your modesty, there’s nothing modest about the decor of the rooms. Find striking floral feature walls, jazzy cushions, gilded mirror frames, and a freestanding tub in one of the en-suites – it’s bourgeois-bohemian at its best. Take a crisp, morning walk to the Jardin des Tuileries after your café au lait (it’s only ten minutes from home). The Louvre–Rivoli metro is just a two-minute walk, so you can also head out to discover any areas of Paris. You might find it hard to leave your surrounding area though – with boulangeries, restaurants, and bars aplenty, you can dine out or feast like a king in your sumptuous apartment.

As far as we’re concerned, it’s always a great time for Paris. Staying here, you’ll have the best of the city right on your doorstep – you can easily walk to the Louvre, Notre-Dame, and the boutiques of Rue de Rivoli. There are also excellent transport links, opening up the whole of Paris. The apartment is elegant and glamorous, designed with style in mind. The open-plan living and dining area is where you’ll likely spend most of your downtime, when you’re not soaking in the bathtub. Two guests will sleep on a sofa bed, but there’s still plenty of room for relaxing and dining together.

This pretty-as-a-picture apartment will help you feel right at home in Paris. The building was completed in 1860 and there are plenty of reminders of its history, from the high ceilings and parquet floors to the ornately carved fireplace and tall windows. That's not to say it's without modern comforts though – you'll love the sleek kitchen, luxurious marble bathrooms and workspace where you can catch up on emails while working remotely. 

Our favourite spot is the balcony, where you can sit and enjoy croissants with coffee for breakfast while watching the city come to life below. Down on the street level, you'll find many of Paris' top attractions are right on your doorstep. The Louvre is just a five-minute stroll away, while a ten-minute walk will take you to the Notre Dame. There are plenty of brasseries and jazz bars to discover nearby and, thanks to the excellent public transport links, you can visit other parts of the city with ease.

This cosy pied-à-terre is a superb base in central Paris. It’s just outside the heart of the lively Marais district, four minutes from historic Place des Vosges. The Picasso Museum is a five-minute walk away, and you can walk to the iconic Notre-Dame in fifteen minutes. The apartment is full of charm, with exposed stone walls and rustic wooden beams – with traditionally low ceilings to match. Two guests will sleep on a sofa bed in the living space.

Exceptionally located on the Île de la Cité, this apartment puts Notre Dame at your fingertips. Cafes and eateries abound in the Latin Quarter (ideal as the kitchen here is a little small and lacks a table), or you can stroll along the river towards the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, and other landmarks if sightseeing tickles your fancy. Though the design is simple, the lounge is filled with light – and the views of the tree-lined Seine are a real highlight. It's the perfect base for couples keen to be in Paris' beating heart.

In Bas Marais, just a two-minute walk from the Saint-Paul metro station, welcome to the neighbourhood of Notre Dame and Le Village Saint-Paul. From baroque churches and antique stores, to boutique shopping and hip restaurants, this is a delightfully diverse area of the 3rd arrondissement. Through a grand, art deco-style doorway on a quiet street, this flat has every typical Parisian element you might come to expect. The wrought-iron balcony of the French windows, the elegance of the original fireplace, and the writer’s desk in the bedroom. The huge open-plan living area is bright and breezy, with understated decor which has a certain old-world charm. But you can stroll nine minutes to the Centre Pompidou if you’re looking for a contrast to your historic surroundings. This inside-out design building is certainly different from the grandeur of Notre Dame, just twelve minutes away. Continue on with some non-traditional art at the Musée Picasso, only eight minutes from your front door. Take the long way home, through the winding streets of creative Le Marais, to stop in at a few cocktail bars en route. With its rich, cultural history, we reckon it's the best area for inspiration to get started on that novel at the writer’s desk when you get back.

Sprawling across three floors with a quaint courtyard, there's something truly relaxing about this hidden-away home. Although the distribution with a bedroom in the basement may not be to everyone's taste, the conservatory-style kitchen is the jewel in this home's crown - large enough to both cook and entertain.

Just steps from the Jardins des Archives Nationales, you’ll find this apartment. There are plenty of museums and art galleries within walking distance of this home too, so it has a perfect address for culture lovers. Overlooking a communal interior courtyard, this ground-floor apartment has a sunroom for dining, while the bright kitchen is well-equipped for when you want to do some home cooking. The separate living room accommodates guests five and six on a sofa bed and for the hot summer months, you’ll be glad to know there’s air conditioning here.

This beautiful apartment is located in Le Marais, the oldest district of Paris. It’s just down the road from the elegant Place des Vosges and a short walk from the Seine, the Notre Dame, and the Louvre. In terms of location, you couldn’t ask for more. The apartment itself is stylish and decorated with high-end furniture and chandeliers. At full occupancy, three guests will be sleeping on sofa beds in the living room, which may feel like a bit of a squeeze. Though this pad is on the smaller side, we reckon you won’t be spending much time at home with so much to see and do on your doorstep. 

French & Chic

Take in the views over Paris’s Archives Museum from this apartment’s large windows. We love that a lot of thought has gone into the decor here, too. Just a couple of things to note – at full capacity, two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room. Also, both bedrooms are street-facing, so you may hear a bit of noise here. Otherwise, this is a great choice for friends or a family looking to take advantage of this home’s great location. It’s in Le Marais, so you’ll have access to stylish shops, restaurants, and art galleries.

Situated on Île Saint-Louis, this apartment is a striking distance from Notre Dame, the Latin Quarter, and the Seine. We love how much sunlight there is here, and the contemporary decor meshes perfectly with the original character features. The kitchen is well-appointed if you fancy rustling up meals at home, both bedrooms are roomy and bright, and two bathrooms mean that nobody will have to share. Factor in the proximity to cafes, restaurants, and the neighbourhood's famous ice cream shop, and it more than ticks our boxes.

Isle of Hope

Nestled in the historic Latin Quarter, this home is excellently located for exploring. Walk five minutes in one direction and you'll reach the spires of Notre Dame, while nine minutes the opposite way lies the leafy Luxembourg Gardens. Charming bookstores, local eateries and cosy cafes abound in this neighbourhood, so if living like a true Parisian is what you're after, you can't go wrong with this postcode. Inside, it's minimally decorated with Scandinavian-inspired pieces – think clean, uncluttered living spaces and classic, contemporary design. We adored the large windows and their quintessential Juliet balconies – although there's nowhere to sit on them, you can still throw open the French doors and watch the city pass by on the streets below. The kitchen is a little tiny – we think it's better suited towards light meals and smaller bites – and there's only one bathroom, but otherwise, this fantastically-placed pad is a great option for small groups or families wanting a typical Paris getaway.

Nestled right in the heart of the history-steeped Latin Quarter, this one-bedroom apartment is a haven of Parisian hospitality. Stylishly-appointed and full of a comforting atmosphere, this is an ideal base for those after an authentic slice of Paris. Step out right onto the street and experience the City of Lights at its best – the banks of the Seine are right down the boulevard, and the iconic Jardin des Plantes is a welcome refuge of natural beauty in the midst of the bustle.

Located within a historic building in a prime Marais spot close to the exclusive Place des Vosges, this home's traditional spaces have been refreshed with a stroke of eclectic minimalism. You can go for walks along the River Seine or visit the Sainte-Chapelle or Notre Dame – both are within walking distance. Alternatively, cross the Pont Neuf and browse the art at the Louvre Museum. Housed in a beautiful building, this air-conditioned studio offers views over the Parisian skyline. We also love the character features such as the stone walls and beams. All in all, this place has everything you need for a comfy stay in the City of Light.

Sitting right across from the architecturally vibrant Centre Pompidou in Paris’ Marais district, this bright apartment is the ideal base for those looking to stay in the city’s cultural heart. We love the open-plan living room’s large windows proffering views of the Centre Pompidou and the kitchen area’s 17th-century beams that give the home plenty of rustic charm. The bedrooms, meanwhile, are minimalist and chic with one giving way to Pompidou vistas and the other facing the building’s peaceful courtyard. Serene, central and effortlessly chic, this home provides a wonderfully relaxing stay while being within easy reach of countless points of interest. While away hours exploring your Marais neighbourhood’s historic streets packed with shops, bistros and bars, head to the Louvre (a thirteen-minute walk) for an afternoon of culture or stand in wonder before Notre Dame (a fourteen-minute walk) before ambling along the Seine for a memorable sunset.

Location is everything at this oh-so-Parisian apartment set in happening Le Marais. All the historical hotspots, including the Louvre and Canal Saint-Martin, are within easy walking distance, and countless bars and quirky shops are just outside your door. Need to be somewhere fast? No problem – the Rambuteau Metro Station is just two minutes away on foot. Set on the third floor of a historic building, some may find the bedroom and well-equipped but compact kitchen on the snug side. But we can look past that in a city like Paris, where space is at a premium. We think this home would suit a couple or solo traveller perfectly if they plan to spend most of their time out and about. 

The Marais Charm

Set back on one of Haut Marais’ best streets, you’ll find yourself near eclectic art galleries, independent fashion stores and cafes spilling onto the sidewalks. Surrounded by old mansions turned museums and narrow streets, wandering around the neighbourhood is full of excellent finds – walk seven minutes to the Picasso Museum, fourteen to The Centre Pompidou and thirteen to the beautiful Place des Voges. Back at home, there’s an English meets Parisian style. We love the high ceilings, soothing grey accent walls and thoughtfully selected furniture. The living room has two couches to kick back on, while the dining room table keeps conversation close over a bottle of wine. At the end of the day, retire to the comfortable bedrooms and get some rest – exploring Paris on foot is a must when you’re so centrally located.

The location of this apartment is hard to beat. Notre-Dame cathedral is just a four-minute walk across the river and the pretty Jardin du Luxembourg is nearby too. Plus, with a Metro stop two minutes away, it’s easy to tick off the rest of your Parisian bucket list. The living room feels bright and open thanks to high ceilings and big windows, with a petite yet practical kitchen area, dining space, and a sofa bed. There’s also a compact and cosy bedroom. With so much on your doorstep, you probably won’t spend much time here, but when you do come back to recharge your batteries, it’s a comfortable place to unwind.

The bunk bed and lofted bed are best suited to children, so we think this home is a great find for a family.

Right in the heart of the beautiful Marais, this family home is both cosy and spacious. Set in a typical period building, it has a classic look with tall ceilings, big windows that open up completely to reveal wrought-iron rails and chic furniture with a rustic – almost farmhouse – twist. We love the natural light that floods the rooms. There's a modern kitchen and a pretty dining table if you're cooking at home but we think you'll be exploring the array of great eateries nearby most evenings. Each bedroom has a dedicated bathroom so there won't be any queueing for the shower in the mornings, and it's easy to get around the city with two metro stations around the corner. Or else head out on foot and walk to the Louvre in less than half an hour.

Usually an apartment like this might be a little dark, but the designers of this particular unit have overcome that issue by adding plenty of interior windows that allows natural light into the farthest reaches of the apartment. The spacious living room has plenty of comfy seating, with lovely black and white photos mounted on the walls, while the bedrooms continue the theme to create a relaxing atmosphere that's perfect for unwinding at the end of a day exploring the streets of Paris. Though there are a massive number of enticing restaurants on your doorstep, the compact kitchen is more than capable of rustling up delicious homemade dinners. Step out onto the winding cobblestone streets and familiarise yourself with some of the best dining and shopping in the city, as you meander through Le Marais. Elsewhere, you're a thirty-minute walk from the world-famous Louvre Museum, or twenty minutes on the metro. Alternatively, Saint-Sébastien – Froissart metro is right outside and you can be gazing up at the Eiffel Tower in around half an hour.

For morning strolls, walk a breezy ten minutes to Luxembourg Gardens and admire the carefully maintained 17th-century gardens with a pastry from a local boulangerie.

Though two guests will sleep on a sofa bed in the TV room, we think you'll find it a comfortable, albeit fuss-free, place to call home.

We really loved the authenticity of the home – from the wooden flooring, exposed beam ceiling and elegant Parisian windows – the apartment keeps true to its roots. Enjoy your coffee and croissants around the vintage wooden dining table for two or simply spend lazy mornings sat in the sunshine with a good book. Light pours into the living space making a fresh and airy spot to unwind on the comfy sofas after an afternoon exploring the city.

Situated on the little island between Le Marais and Notre Dame de Paris, this home is far away from the hustle and bustle of Paris, but still accessible enough, giving you the best of both worlds. It also means that the immediate area – known for having been an aristocratic area in the 19th century – has a particular small-town charm that makes sitting outside a cafe with a cappuccino feel special. Stroll the avenues looking for the perfect spot for a holiday selfie before grabbing a bite to eat at one of the many authentic eateries of the neighbourhood.
