Although this Pembrokeshire apartment underwent a recent renovation, one thing that hasn't changed is just how peaceful the view from the balcony is, with the unmistakably blue waters of Carmarthen Bay peering through the trees. It may not be the biggest outdoor space in the world, but this seaward orientation makes up for it.

Inside, the glass doors in the main living area are especially generous when it comes to natural light and this dances pleasingly off the wooden floors and white walls. When it comes to the design, it's a pretty simple affair with only a few pieces of coastal artwork nodding to the location, but it's all been executed pretty well, particularly the sleek kitchen and bathroom.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the local area, the centre of Saundersfoot and its beach is all of five mintues' walk from the front door. The town of Tenby is also only ten minutes' drive down the coastline and offers visitors a castle and a selection of galleries to visit.

Blessed with beautiful beach views, this charming seaside cottage lets you watch the waves from bay window seats. Although this Grade II listed building has recently had a top-to-toe renovation, it still treasures all the traditional details. 

Downstairs, a smart seating area sits under skylights and looks out onto your small patio – why not read a book here? In every room of the house, you'll love the timeless interior design – think wood beams and a clawfoot bathtub.  

Climb the stripped-back staircase, there you will find an open-plan living space. You can bake Welsh cakes in the kitchen, then swap stories with your loved ones on these sand-coloured sofas. Across the road, the pebbled seashore is your real playground. Dale Beach is a wide and sheltered bay, making it ideal for several watersports.

In the village, you'll find an award-winning pub and great places to eat. After bird watching on the Gann, come back and warm your hands with a real fire. Both bedrooms are equally as cosy, promising you a good night's sleep after long walks on the Pembrokeshire coast.

Found just outside the town of Narbeth in beautiful Pembrokeshire, this home is generous both when it comes to size and the number of distractions that guests will have at their disposal.

Many of these amenities lie out on the grounds, which include everything from a full-size rugby pitch with posts and a zipline to a lake and orchard perfect for peaceful strolls. Add an eight-person hot tub into the mix and you've got a property in which boredom is unlikely to rear its head.

There's plenty to like inside as well. As well as three separate living areas — including one on the first floor with pretty views of rolling countryside — we're also particularly fond of the huge kitchen fitted with sleek surfaces and smart wooden finishes.

When you want to see a little more of the local area, it's hard to know where to start. If the sun makes an appearance, why not head for Coppet Hall Beach only fifteen minutes' drive away or one of the huge number of coves and sandy spots that lie along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path? Alternatively, the charming town of Tenby lies twenty minutes away in the car.

As you look around this home, it becomes clear very quickly that it has been designed to make the most of the beautiful coastal scenery in which this part of south Wales really specialises. In the living room, huge bi-fold doors open up to Juliet balconies that gaze out over Tenby's South Beach, while in the bedrooms there are further balconies, only this time with a view of Caldy Island. With such glorious panoramas, you could be forgiven for not really paying the interior much attention, but when you do get around to it, you'll find a modern space that's simple but effective — we're fans of the minimalist white kitchen, in particular. As you can probably imagine when looking out the window, the beach isn't too far away — just five minutes' walk, in fact. Tenby Castle can be reached in under a quarter of an hour on foot, too.

Home chefs can let loose in the kitchen, rustling up freshly-baked cakes and mouthwatering Sunday roasts to share around the eight-seater table. Upstairs, a soak in the lavish free-standing bathtub before bedtime is just the ticket after a long day.

Speaking of, we can't help but swoon over the verdant, lush landscape that awaits you outside. Listen to the babbling stream as you share a pitcher of Pimm's or gather around the fire pit on hazy summer evenings. It's not just grown-ups who will adore this home. Kids can while away afternoons in the loft playroom, play pretend in the treehouse, follow the fairy trail and bounce on the trampoline. With garden games and rope swings, it's perfect for little ones and the young at heart.

The village is just a short walk away, home to an award-winning farmer's market, historic abbey and the River Teifi. Just across the bridge – about a twenty-minute walk – are pubs, eateries and shops in Cardigan, while Poppit Sands, a picturesque dog-friendly beach, is forty-five minutes on foot, seven by car.

When Mary Ann Evans paid a visit to this home in 1857, she was inspired to write a novel. A year later, Scenes From A Clerical Life was published under the nom de plume George Eliot and over the course of the next twenty years, she would write some of the most influential books of the period, including Middlemarch and Daniel Deronda.

No pressure to anybody coming to this four-storey, Grade-II listed townhouse in the present day, then. Straight away, you can see why it had the power to rouse dormant literary ambitions — the view from the huge windows of Tenby Harbour is nothing short of sublime. Even though the interior has been updated in the proceeding two centuries, there are still signs of the home's heritage, from the high ceilings and tall windows to the original wooden floorboards in the hallway.

If you ever need a break from working on your manuscript, Castle Beach takes all of a minute to reach on foot, as does the 12th-century landmark that lends the sandy spot its name. Catching the twenty-minute ferry to see the abbey on Caldey Island is well worth doing, too.

Upstairs you'll find the mezzanine bedroom, with a comfortable King size bed and dressing table. This space is full of natural lighting in the day and is a cosy sanctuary at night, perfect for a romantic getaway!

This Grade II listed seaside cottage is the perfect base for relaxing breaks on the Pembrokeshire coast. It was lovingly restored and modernised in 2021, so while it still retains its historic charm – and traditional features and layout – it’s now a wonderfully comfortable and cosy cottage. 

The cottage sits just across the road from the sea, so you can be paddling in the shallows of Dale’s beach in no time. From the water sports centre in Dale, you can try your hand at any number of activities, including sailing, surfing, and kayaking. We’d be tempted to give paddleboarding a go, followed by a hearty meal in the award-winning village pub. Of course, you might choose to fish for your supper instead?

Nature-lovers will have plenty to keep them entertained too, with a whole host of coastal walks to enjoy. You might partake in a spot of bird watching on the Gann, or take the ferry to Skomer Island to see the puffins in summer. 

However you spend your days, you’ll be glad to have such a pleasant home from home to return to. When the weather is fine you can tuck into picnic lunches on the front lawn, and admire the sea view as you dine. Newport is a pretty market town on the north coast of Pembrokeshire, situated at the foot of Carnigli Mountain and the Preseli Hills. There's an array of eateries, including small cafes and old-fashioned pubs, within walking distance, as well as independent shops and galleries. Newport Beach isn't far – about a half-hour stroll along the coastal path – while historic sites like Pentre Ifan, Castell Henllys Iron Age Village and Nevern Castle are less than ten minutes by car.

With its baby blue timber exterior, the long shady verandah that skirts around the side of the house and the verdant surroundings, you could be excused for thinking this house was in the Deep South. And it is in a way, just not the USA. It's actually in the deep south of Wales, part of Trefloyne Manor Golf Course and Spa. Guests can access both of these facilities for an extra fee, as well as the bar and restaurant which sit just a few minutes' walk away. The inside of the home has the feel of a secluded forest cabin, thanks to the wooden ceilings, floors and walls. However, the smart design of the address means it can adapt to the seasons — there's underfloor heating for the colder months and glass doors leading out to a balcony for when the sun makes an appearance. When the weather does look bright, Tenby's South Beach can be reached in fifteen minutes on foot, while the town of Penally can be reached in twenty.

Blue South Wales

Discover the beauty of the South Pembrokeshire from this stunning beachfront base, situated in the small seaside resort of Saundersfoot. More compact than nearby Tenby, which lies a few miles to the south, the place has a unique charm all of its own.

South-facing sea views grab all the headlines here, with large windows in the open layout living area/kitchen, plus direct access to a private balcony ensuring you can make the most of the unparalleled location. 

The interior decor is no less eye-catching, with mid-century style leather seating, a wood burner set into the wall, plus a subtle maritime theme, with hints of blue and wood cladding that reminded us of the side of a beach hut.

Sharing the open-plan space is the kitchen, with the sink set up so you can look out at the waves as you wash up the bits and pieces that won't fit in the dishwasher. Rather sensibly, the hob and oven face the opposite way, to minimise distractions. With dinner ready, it's down to you to plate up and grab a seat at the rustic yet elegant dining table.

Elsewhere, the two bedrooms keep up with the nods to the nautical setting, with striped wallpaper and sea-themed artwork adorning the walls.

In addition to the expansive beach, the old tramway route that connected the coal port to mines at Stepsaside survives as a spectacular section of the picturesque Pembrokeshire Coast Path. It's 186 miles long in total, but we'd recommend dipping in and out to walk along particularly panoramic parts.

Those who prefer their outdoor activities more action-packed will find some of Pembrokeshire's finest surf spots within a twenty-mile drive. A particular standout is Freshwater West, which is hailed by many as the most reliable break in the land of dragons and daffodils.

Getting ready in the mornings may take a while with one bathroom, but that’ll soon be forgotten once you step onto the golden sands of nearby Saundersfoot beach.

There's plenty of room here to make yourself at home – including a separate den fit for the kids, complete with an Xbox for rare rainy days. Out on the deck, you can bask in the scenery while firing up the barbecue, watching the four-legged family members let off steam in the enclosed garden. Better yet, take the dogs for a walk along the sea – Saundersfoot Beach is just a ten-minute stroll away. Brimming with seaside charm and awash with cute cafes, traditional pubs and delicious restaurants, Saundersfoot is a gem in Pembrokeshire's crown. Grab an ice cream cone and sprawl out on the sand or try your hand at crabbing along the harbour walls. Tenby's sprawling beaches are also ten minutes away by car – safe to say, this is an excellent spot for an escape to the coast.

You only need to look out the window at the uninterrupted sea views to understand why we adore this apartment. Not only is this pad light, bright and roomy, but the panoramas of Tenby's North Beach are truly something spectacular. Whether you're lounging in the cosy armchairs or enjoying a tasty meal at the small dining table, you'll be able to watch the waves break on the shore. After a long day in the sun, there's nothing better than sinking into the plush Hypnos mattress in the bedroom and getting some well-deserved shut-eye. Even better than the vistas is the central location – it's just a three-minute stroll from the front door to the beach. When you're not sprawled out in the sand, spend your days here strolling along the cobbled streets lined with colourful pastel houses. Tenby is a historic town with plenty of seaside charm and sprawling beaches. And with an array of excellent eateries, independent boutiques, cosy coffee shops, trendy bars and charming pubs to discover within walking distance, you'll be well-placed for exploring.

Every Breaking Wave

Coastal homes don't get much closer to Tenby's iconic North Beach than this, folks. The apartment's location is a knockout, offering direct access to the golden sands and Tenby's high street just a flip-flop away. Housed in a period apartment building, special mention goes to the home's dining area overlooking the sea through the arched windows. And, of course, that impressive outdoor veranda for evening barbecues and sunset drinks. It's the perfect perch to watch the boats come and go into Tenby Harbour.

The Olde Landing

Set above the sea, a three-minute walk to North Beach, this stylish home is perfectly positioned for exploring the heart of Tenby and the Pembrokeshire Coast. Inside, there’s an open-plan living space with a moody blue and grey colour scheme, creating a sophisticated yet cosy feel. We particularly loved the subtle nautical nods and funky artwork. On chilly days, warm your toes by the fire or sip a mug of hot tea by the enormous bay windows, watching as the waves break on the shore. Cook up your favourite dinners in the flash kitchenette – but not before you’ve sampled fish and chips from D.Fecci and Sons on lower Frog Street, some of the best in town. When the sun shines, make a beeline for the placid waters of Castle Beach and explore Tenby Museum and Art Gallery, the oldest of its kind in Wales. If you’d prefer to expend a little more energy, it’s an hour’s amble to Saundersfoot.
