Located right in front of Praça da Figueira with views of the square from its Juliet balcony, this apartment puts you in a wonderfully central spot from which to explore Lisbon’s sights. The decor is a pêle-mêle of styles that won’t be to everyone’s taste. And the great locale means street noise is to be expected. However, the interconnecting bedrooms make this spot a good choice for families, as well as those looking to spend their days visiting the myriad cultural hotspots within easy walking distance.

Home truths

There's no lift here. You'll need to be able to climb stairs to reach the entrance of the home on the fourth floor.

The decor lacks coherence and the aesthetics are not quite up to Plum Guide's usual standards. We've made an exception with this home on account of its great location in Lisbon.

The home faces busy Praça da Figueira, so expect some street noise. Light sleepers may wish to pack earplugs.

The two bedrooms interconnect, so this home may be better suited to families who don't mind limited privacy.

There's no desk here if you're looking to work remotely. However, the dining table can double up as a laptop-friendly workspace.

We recommend skipping the car here and exploring Lisbon on foot or by public transport instead.

About Mouraria

With street performers, Fado shows and lots of unmissable sights, Mouraria should be at the top of your list. A trip through its narrow streets is like stepping back in time, revisiting the rich cultural background even before the great earthquake of 1755. In fact, the story goes that Fado was born in Mouraria, and it’s since made its way to the UNESCO World Heritage list. Although it’s quite central, this neighbourhood has a strong local community and an independent art scene that will show you a side of old, nostalgic Lisbon that you won’t find anywhere else.
